JACKSON, Miss. -- Authorities said Sunday a new drug that can be bought in stores is circulating the streets of Mississippi.
This new drug, known in the streets as "ivory wave" or "scarface," is actually a form of bath salt, authorities said.
The director of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Marshall Fisher, said the drug has gained popularity in the coastal and northeast part of the state. It can be snorted, injected or smoked, authorities said.
Senate leaders said they have already proposed a bill to get this new street drug off the store shelves.
If passed, possession and use of this bath salt will have similar penalties as marijuana and heroin, the senators said.
Next, someone is going to discover that snow-melt salt can be used to get high. That stuff is not going to be so easy to get off the streets ... in the middle of winter, after a snowfall.
I hope they don’t start snorting bacon and eggs. I would hate for the gov to make breakfast illegal.
So Calgon really does take you away.
This will not sit well with my wife.
So now people are using bath salt as a drug? If we’ve fallen so far that people now snort bath salt, its a statement about how our education system and other societal institutions have completely failed at building character and reinforcing self-restraint in our population. If people are that desparate to get high, they will find something else. Banning it won’t do a damn bit of good.
The new drug dealer:
Avon Calling.................
My daughter in 11th grade overheard kids in class discussing smoking duct tape to get high and complaining that eventually you will have to be at least 18 to purchase spray paint.
There is something very fishy about this story. I think somebody is calling something “bath salt” as a street name for a drug cocktail and the media has made a (rare) mistake.
Further proof that politicians have far too much time on their hands.
People who want to get high are really some of the dummest bunnies.........bath salt. What next will they want to shove up their nose?
Louisiana outlawed the fake bath salts already. I believe New Orleans was a point of entry for the chemicals.
“The hallucinogenic fake bath salts, which are being marketed as bath salts and are being sold in individual bags on the Internet and in convenience stores, are made with chemicals such as 3,4-Methylenedioxymethcathinone (Methylone), 3,4-Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), 4-Methylmethcathinone (Mephedrone), 4-Methoxymethcathinone, 4-Fluoromethcathinone, and 3-Fluoromethcathinone, although any psychedelic properties may simply be side effects of attempting to pronounce Methylenedioxymethcathinone. “
LOL. Me too.
Kinda like the “blue star acid” myth that makes the rounds.
The major ingredient in most ‘bath salts’ is epsom salt.
Thank you, pretty much summed up my view. These idiots will only find something else handy to smoke, sniff, snort, swallow or stuff in another orifice in their quest to achieve whatever it is they are seeking.
As far as bath salt goes they can have it when they pry it from my warm, wet, silky soft hands...
LOL! Thanks again!
Oh, Come on Now!
Let’s just make everything illegal.
I’ve come to the conclusion quite some time ago that if someone wants to kill themselves off slowly by using drugs then it is to societies best interest to get out of their way.
Yeah, it sounds heartless to put it that way. As it stands now the government, both state and federal use ANY incident as a justification to put more controls on all of the people. And quite frankly only the law-abiding will obey and thereby be controlled even more and the criminals will ignore it like they do every other law they don’t like to obey.
It’s time for personal responsibility and personal consequences of our actions to be the law of the land. If by your actions you bring harm to someone else then it’s wrong and needs to be punished. If you harm yourself then on your own head be it.
And as always generalizations are just that, there will Always be the exception to the rule. That’s part of life too.
As a former test pilot in the 60’s, I cannot imagine people sitting around and saying that this is a good idea to try. I mean, someone had to be the first, who in the hell would snort this krappola?
People will just think of new ways of getting high. That's right, guys would go into their basements and become scientists. 'Like dude, check this out, check this out, you know, if you get a baby's bottle, and you fill it up with a little gasoline and dead lima beans, and you suck it, you'll be f***ed up!'
In northern Canada, the drug of choice among the native population is gasoline. It’s cheap, legal, plentiful, can be obtained in bulk quantities, and kills brain cells most readily when the fumes are concentrated and inhaled.
