I think you are judging a group based on a rotten minority. Most Eastern European’s I know only commit the same “crimes” that most American’s do, jaywalking, fudging their taxes and trying to dodge jury duty. Exactly, among those who came to US (de-facto deported from SU) in ‘70s a huge partion were ‘enemies of state’ not in form of anticommunist activities, but drug addicts, gays, muslim activists and ‘parasites’ (being able and unemployed living purely on government issued benefits was a petty crime under Soviets), and tonns of liberals too.
