WASHINGTON -- Allegations of a pro-gay takeover, boycotts, embezzlement and terrorist-loving board members. Sounds like a Hollywood version of a conspiracy thriller, but it's not.
It's the buzz around this year's Conservative Political Action Conference, the nation's single largest annual congregation of conservative leaders.
Conservatives riding a new wave of momentum thanks to the strength of the Tea Party movement and big wins in the November midterm election should be riding high ahead of this year's CPAC,scheduled to take place in Washington on Feb. 10-13. But the conference, which has met for 38 years, has found itself beset by conflict that even its founder seemed to acknowledge in a recent e-mail with FoxNews.com.
"This year, some have been critical of CPAC because of who will be attending and others because they want others rather than those likely to be featured to speak," said David Keene, the embattled president of the American Conservative Union, which has hosted CPAC every year since 1973
But Keene said the grumbling and positioning is nothing new for a conference whose attendance last year topped a record 10,000.
"The conservative movement is a coalition of men and women who share important core values, but hold widely differing positions on issues they believe to be very important. The bottom line is that more organizations are participating this year than ever before and if current projections hold, attendance will exceed last year," Keene said.
Still, several high-profile groups, including the Media Research Center, the Family Research Council, Rev. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University and the Heritage Foundation -- giants in the galaxy of conservative activism -- have pulled out this year, following boycott calls by the American Principles Project.

As far as I’m concerned, CPAC is done.
Those aren’t accusations, they’re facts.
Buh-bye CPAC.
CPAC ought to go ahead and change their name and make it official:
Fudge PAC
Oh my!
I’m not threatened by the log cabin types. Let em try to peddle their ideology and see how well it sells. But Grover Norquist is another matter. He IS an Islamist and is setting the agenda like he manipulated GWB in the aftermath of 9/11 to give CAIR the keys to the liquor cabinet.
If there are Muslims and gays who can agree with us, push conservative principles and make in-roads with disenchanted Independents and moderate democrats, then I would want to rent them a flat bed trailer and a megaphone to go through the nation and say so. Otherwise, if they work against Christians in and from this platform, CPAC, then yes the organization can fold, if it’s their presence alone in CPAC, then that’s quite a danger saying, far more about the Christians than the gays and Muslims.
Grover Norquist is seriously bad news and he has gotten a lot of power in GOP circles.
PC reacts like acid on truth and values. Conservatives shouldn’t play with it.
Free Republic Founder Joins Boycott Of CPAC (Last Year)
"Ill join that boycott. If CPAC is no longer for conservative family values then I want nothing to do with them. Theyll have to change their name to HOMOPAC."
Islam and homosexuality are mutually exclusive. I don’t see how it is possible to have a “Pro-Gay, Muslim Agenda”.
I agree. Grover Norquist is a complete contradiction in terms.
I am with Ryan Sorba on this one.
Tell that to the little boys in Afghanistan.
GOPride is nothing but a relabeling of the Log Cabin Republicans.
Their only real agenda, as their behavior at the CPAC conferences has made clear, is to push the gay agenda among so-called conservatives, not to push conservatism among gays.
You can be gay and conservative. But you really can’t be a gay activist and conservative. All they are doing is exactly what the liberal press constantly does: driving a wedge between social conservatives and fiscal conservatives. And that is how the Democrats have repeatedly won elections.
The nation of Islam is an enemy of freedom.
Muslims and gays are 180 degrees opposed to conservative principals.” ______________________________________________

If that is a fact then I stand corrected of course, but gays in Congress in the form of Log Cabin have been known to have pulled our fat out of the fire on more than one occasion and on more than one issue. Muslims can form their own coalition, like anyone else, if they don’t support our platform, but where they do they become utilitarian to our politics and we have more than a dozen or so in this country who are silent for fear of risking lives of family members in the Middle East.
Egyptian Muslims just last week encircled a Coptic Catholic Mass to protect Christians after the slaughter of Catholics IN the Mass. They risked their own lives and that says something is a foot among Muslims.
What a surprise that the two most prevalent mental disorders in society work hand in hand!
