Abortion and the Black Community

"Several years ago, when 17,000 aborted babies were found in a dumpster outside a pathology laboratory in Los, Angeles, California, some 12-15,000 were observed to be black."

--Erma Clardy Craven (deceased) Social Worker and Civil Rights Leader

Minority women constitute only about 13% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions.

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion

On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.

This incidence of abortion has resulted in a tremendous loss of life. It has been estimated that since 1973 Black women have had about 16 million abortions. Michael Novak had calculated "Since the number of current living Blacks (in the U.S.) is 36 million, the missing 16 million represents an enormous loss, for without abortion, America's Black community would now number 52 million persons. It would be 36 percent larger than it is. Abortion has swept through the Black community like a scythe, cutting down every fourth member."

A highly significant 1993 Howard University study showed that African American women over age 50 were 4.7 times more likely to get breast cancer if they had had any abortions compared to women who had not had any abortions.

Unbelievable! Black, white, purple 17,000 little souls that have been taken from this earth - murdered. God forgive us. Sickening. Heartbreaking.

That’s why Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the lestists are all pro abortion - population control. Next the elderly - those who just clutter the earth - then the sickly. That’s why their hearts are stone.

Perhaps it's because a certain revered individual wholeheartedly supported such things?

I really doubt anyone could “observe” the race of an unborn child in the first half of a pregnancy. You can’t even tell the race of a six month preemie, really - the poor little things are red and transparent-skinned, and the facial features not fully developed.

And I doubt that 17,000 third-trimester fetuses were dumped in LA in one spot.

Can the pro-life movement please refrain from myth-peddling?

They better watch out, they're both old and sick.

OMG! I didn’t know MLK not only supported Planned Parenthood but also received the Margaret Sanger Award. Thanks for the info.

Just a guess but this was outside a pathology lab , not an abortion clinic ,,, could very well be in a “black” part of town ... could be that the remains were tagged or that they had a specific disease somehow associated with them ,, maybe they were aborted because of sickle cell? and were tagged as such by the lab that received them?

Why are you , without evidence , calling this a myth?

I read the link , it was awarded posthumously and accepted by his wife ,, at the time abortion was not yet legal and PP was in the birth control business ... I can see Coretta accepting the award on MLK’s behalf thinking that birth control would keep more women in school ... and I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she really didn’t understand Margaret Sanger as everything MLK worked for would be in direct opposition.

Walt Disney has been given several awards here in Orlando by PP.. thanks to donations through United Way .. and disney employees volunteering for PP.

Okay. I have no proof that this event did not occur. I have logic - the impossibility of observing race in early gestation, and the unlikelihood of 17,000 late-term fetuses being dumped - that’s 8 tons of dead babies stored for a while and still undecayed enough to determine race.

Logic, against a quotation from a dead social worker. Find me the new stories. 17,000 dead babies is enough to make the pro-abortion news. We had news today from multiple sources about the Philadelphia abortionist.

I have been pro-life for twenty years and unfortunately I have seen pro-lifers be careless with the truth far too often, or caught up in wishful thinking, too ready to believe anything that makes us look good and the other side look bad.

Is their a specific reason you doubt the statistics? The article above was published just last week.

New York Catholic Archbishop Timothy Dolan speaks about recent New York City Health Department statistics revealing that 41 percent of pregnancies in the city result in abortion, during a press conference. Chilling!

You really don’t think a pathology lab can ascertain the race of an examination subject?

http://www.nytimes.com/1982/06/10/us/service-for-fetuses-blocked.html

“A judge has temporarily blocked the release of 17,000 fetuses to people who want to hold a religious burial service. The injunction, issued Tuesday by Judge Dickran M. Tevrizian of the Superior Court, had been sought by the Feminist Women’s Health Center in Hollywood in a complaint filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.”

This happened in 1982 - some ghastly number of babies way back when was niggling at me. I suppose you might figure that most of them were black, by local demographics and abortion rates. And “observed” might mean that kind of reasoning, rather than physical observation...so I guess
I owe you and Bronxville an apology - I’m sorry.

“Unbelievable! Black, white, purple 17,000 little souls that have been taken from this earth - murdered. God forgive us. Sickening. Heartbreaking.”

Exactly and that’s the whole crux of the matter. We go down the road of killing our babies and what do we care about killing old people or the mentally challenged, or those “unfit to live” - George Bernard Shaw...etc., it eventually leads to -

The Malthusian Principal (1798)
http://www.worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/Reading/Biology/Eugenics.htm

Who makes the decision as to whose “unfit to live” one might wonder.

Thank God for the consistent courage of the Catholic Church on this issue. I know there have been others as well, but no denomination has so publicly, persistently, and vocally opposed all forms of destruction of human life as the Catholic Church. They deserve our thanks.
