SNIP...Republicans are finding it's one thing to issue a blanket promise to cut spending, an entirely different matter when you actually take the scissors to $1 of every $6 spent by agencies like the IRS, the FBI, NASA and the National Park Service. Federal layoffs would be unavoidable, the White House warns.

EBT night at Wally World, no doubt....

Something like that. It was a program to apply for rent assistance, but the word got out that they were giving out money to help pay people's rent. They just about had riots when people in the crowd found out that all they were handing out were applications and not free money, especially because they'd been standing in line for hours.

I said at the time they needed to send somebody with a bullhorn up and down through the crowd, telling people that they were only going to get an application and not any cash. That crowd would have been cut by 90% in no time.

I just zapped the file this morning and I am not inclined to do all of the research again, but I found just under one trillion dollars that can be saved overnight.

Do away with ALL foreign aid.

Medicare fraud.

Shut down the EPA

Stop unemployment checks.

Zap obummer care

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Stuff like that would save all we need to save and would not affect any police or fire department or the armed forces.

We all know that if you cut the DOD 10%, all that would happen is that they would have to pay Lowe’s prices for hammers and toilet seats instead of $700 each.

I did not even attempt to talley the costs of bank bailouts, etc.

"They won’t affect me much because I’m not a dependent slave."

Me neither, other than to the Tax Man.

Better lay in some extra ammo, though, if you live near a major urban area.....the Dem voterbase will be heading to the suburbs to take what they believe that they have a "Right" to........

"Federal layoffs would be unavoidable"

And each Federal employee you shed saves as much money as it costs to support a half dozen people on disability as well as a couple of others on food stamps. Well paid Federal employees should be the first thing we shed, not the last.

"Rising Medicare and Medicaid costs are the real drivers of the United States' long-term deficit woes. "

While many if these discretionary programs needs cuts, or elimination, the REAL PROBLEM is SS/Medicare/Medicaid. Until we take those on, we're just providing window dressing.

My guess is that the REAL “trouble” will start when the welfare checks stop going out.

If you live in a major urban area, lock and load ‘cause I suspect when it WILL be a target-rich environment.

Someone should be looking into how many FBI agents actually chase crime and how many are accountants chasing dollars. The FBI is doing more of what the little guy in “The Untouchables” wanted than the Irish beat cop. If all those FBI accountants did anything, we would be looking at fraud convictions for the housing mess and medicare fraud. It is time for a redesign of government...that should be the job of this new congress. LINE BY LINE through the budget = shake them up.

The numbers our leaders throw around when it comes to spending to me just boggle the mind. I’d bet that if they would just eliminate the waste we could get out from under their deficit.
