Palinoia, the Destroyer
The Wall Street Journal ^ | JANUARY 19, 2011. | JAMES TARANTO

Why does their hatred of her burn so hot?

Ask them, and they'll most likely tell you: Because she's a moron. But that is obviously false. To be sure, her skills at extemporaneous speaking leave much to be desired. But that can be said of a good many politicians on both sides of the aisle, including George W. Bush, John Kerry and, yes, Barack Obama. And don't get us started on the man who defeated her for the vice presidency.

Probably the most interesting explanation I have heard for the murderous hatred of Palin is contained in the word ‘ressentiment’ as advanced by the German phenomenologist Max Scheler (in his book Ressentiment). Sarah Palin lives according to a certain hierarchy of values and her very existence constitutes a massive rebuke to their whole manner of being. That is why they are so desperate for her to “go away”, “shut up” “stay in Alaska”, etc.

IF you have brains, then you don’t NEED a man (fish/ bicycle), and you must not stoop to making yourself attractive.

You mean like this hag? (I especialli like this photoshopped version of the photo)

The left fears her and seeks to demonize her.
They know in their hearts that she could win against Obama, and it scares them.

I don't feel she would be a good choice to run this country,...

This is one place where I part company with Mr. Taranto. He has the right to feel that way, but in the same way the left gives no rational explanation for their hostility toward Sarah Palin, he's also given no ration explanation as to why she wouldn't make a good president.

My belief is that she'd be a whole lot better than the one we have now. As a former mayor and governor, she has lot more administrative experience than Obama did before he became president. Contrary to Obama who is so insecure that he went ballistic when Maureen Dowd poked fun at his ears, the attacks on Sarah Palin seem only to have made her stronger. She's shown to be as tough as nails, whereas Obama has shown to be an inept effete snob.

And all that's apart from the fact that while Obama said he wants to "fundamentally transform America", she'd just like it to be returned to what made it great in the first place.

Hold on, there, Shemp. In no way did Clueless Joe "defeat" Sarah for VP. This is not 1804, the one coming in second in votes does not get to be VP. Biden is VP because O'bama defeated McCain, not because Biden defeated Palin.

No, technically Taranto is correct. The Electoral College votes for President and Vice-President separately, so Biden did indeed beat Sarah Palin (the only two to receive Electoral College votes) for the position.

Of course, you're also correct in the sense that the members of the Electoral College were voted in as a result of the McCain/Obama contest.
