Desperately Seeking Mike Pence?
CBN ^ | 1/20/11 | David Brody

Mike Pence could become the “Madonna” of 2012. Remember the 1980s movie “Desperately Seeking Susan?” starring the pop icon? (Oy, I may be dating myself.) Well, there is a political movement out there that we might want to start calling, “Desperately Seeking Pence”

There’s a “Draft Mike Pence” for president petition that has been put together and is circulating out there. (more on that here) and now there is a separate movement down in South Carolina to get Pence to run. More here. Watch the video below of some South Carolina legislators announcing their support for Pence.

We should know in the next couple of weeks what Pence plans to do. If he runs, he becomes a legitimate dark horse with a huge upside to surprise a lot of people. He may be the Mike Huckabee of 2012. Evangelicals who know Pence love him. Evangelicals who don't know about him may soon fall in love.

And unlike the huckster, Pence is a solid conservative.

there was a poll here at FR about support for the various candidates a couple days ago.

Pence looked to be the second highest rated behind Palin. But even still he was about 10-1 behind her.

Clearly, he's got something in mind by declining a leadership position, but it could easily be running for Governor to replace Daniels if he decides to run.

From what I've read, Pence thinks Daniels should run, and would support him. But if Daniels doesn't run, then I think Pence will.

I don’t care if it’s 100-1, I’m not going to settle with Palin in the primary. Too many liberal positions.

Good for you, but you're one vote and one vote only. Bachmann, DeMint or Pence would be superb, but if Mrs Palin wants the nomination Mrs Palin is assured of the nomination. I would bet that the aforementioned would not run if Palin preceded them in announcing her intention to do so. Though it would also be interesting to see what Palin would do if Bachmann, DeMint or Pence seek the nod. I would think Palin would in that case sit out and campaign for the any of the three.

Aside: Uttered just today by Rush Limbaugh: 'Sarah Palin would wipe the floor with Obama. The Democrats know it and the Republicans know it.'

You are too kind... I won't settle for her at all. But I'll vote for Pence, without a doubt.

I would hope that any candidate we get will wipe the floor with the boy marxist. The bigger question is how do we restore this nation from the path that not only Obama, but every President since FDR (except Reagan) has steered us on. We are heading for catastrophe. It is not enough to oppose or repeal ObamaCare. We have to re-assert capitalism. We have to re-assert our sovereignty. We have to drastically slash taxes, we will have to contain china’s & Russia’s military ambitions, we will have to cut out entire swaths of the federal government, we have to get rid of 20 million illegal aliens doing jobs Americans “won’t do” - like roofing, construction, janitorial, culinary, assembly, meat packing, hotels, etc. We have to pay off the debt. We have to drastically restructure Medicare and privatize SS. We have to re-establish the primacy of the 10th amendment. We have to re-invigorate our manufacturing base, and like Reagan did, use trade & tariffs to our advantage.

This is a tall order for anyone. No one will accomplish all of this. But someone must be willing and ABLE to convince the population that this must be done. The RINOs won’t even try and even if they tried initially, they’d end up falling back on their politically correct, “please like me” tendencies. Maybe Palin is the one, but she’ll need to convince me of a seismic shift in her thinking on a number of issues.

Wow...excellent summation of what we need to do for 2012 and beyond.

Not sure if Palin or Pence is that person.....but I do know that Gingrich, Romney, Huckabee, and some of the others will be more of the same like Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, etc.

Hopefully when the “Palin shot the Congresswoman and killed the judge” nuttiness stops....we can get back to an honest discussion of where Palin, Pence, and others stand on the issues.....the real issues like National Security/Border Security...Deporting Illegal Aliens....rebuilding our economy....lowering taxes....those are the real issues

I was around for Reagan and Palin is Reagan in High Heels! She is better looking, but Reagan was not in his prime.

Palin is quicker in getting her words out than any politician in the last 50 years, this is a sign she says what she believes! Finally, someone who tells the Truth!

Some people seems to think a woman can’t run this country, that’s another reason why she needs to be the first woman President!

She would do a lot to hurt the men having sex with men lifestyle, Normal would be back in again! That’s probably the biggest reason that the anti Palin freepers keeping spurring out all the same negatives Reagan lived with, yes, our token liberal democrat Trolls and with their sick lifestyle!
