Another Private’s Citizen’s home deprived of its Early Warning Intruder Detection System.

These dog-killings and dog-shootings by cops sure benefit the criminal element, don’t they?

To think that some of Free Republic have the audacity to defend the cops in these instances.

and if attacked by a resident critter, what can he do?

Most dogs bark first as a warning. It usually takes further provocation to get them to attack. I would not be surprised to learn the detective is saying the barking was an attack.

Obviously, there are instances where police overstep the line. But I'd hazard a guess that your average cop is not running around itching to shoot dogs.

There seems to be a rather prevalent opinion on this website that all cops are mindless, jack-booted minions of the state. Many, many cops are conservative, patriotic Americans.

I was discussing this detective, this dog, and this instance.

There are those in the criminal element who would view this as a golden opportunity.

If a criminal invaded this Private Citizen’s home, then this man will be doubly victimized—by the detective who terminated his home’s first defense—and by the criminal who took advantage of the terminator detective’s actions.

But, of course, the Supreme Court has ruled that police have no obligation to protect any private citizen, yet this detective unlawfully deprived the citizen of his property.

It seems that not only do the police have no lawful obligation to “protect” their fellow citizens, but the criminal element among the police also have no qualms in removing a very effective means for a private citizen to protect himself and his property.

I think these cops are watching too many dirty harry movies.
In this instance a fence around the property would prevent the leo from just stopping by to ask questions. Need a warrant to enter. The cop chasing a suspect through the private citizen’s property is probably not allowed - would he be able to barge into the house if he thought the perp was in the house? I think not.
With regards to the folks on this thread who think no persons life is worth a dogs life I ask would you condone shooting a tresspaser or a robber? If a criminal was on your property and shot your dog would you shoot him? Why is an leo exempt?

It’s from “Shooter”, a fairly good Mark Wahlberg flick.

Thank you for also being on record as supporting the detective’s decision to deprive this Private Citizen who has been charged and convicted with no crime of an excellent primary means of defense.

Will the police be protecting this man, since they have deprived him of his bull terrier?

What happens when the criminal element find out that this man’s house is an easier target, Government Boot-Licker?

Why are you cheering on the Government Agent who wantonly destroyed this man’s property? Would you cheer on a member of the criminal element who did the same thing?

Apparently, your average police detective does too.

One of these days, a Private Citizen is going to have enough and shoot back when he sees that a Terminator Cop shot his dog without justification.

When you can’t tell the difference between a Terminator Cop and the Average Criminal, we have a problem.

In my view, Part of the problem was Clinton’s initiative to put so many cops on forces around the country-—in order to increase the number of cops on the rolls, no doubt, admission standards were lowered.

LOL, I find it amazing how these stories of a pitbull getting shot, use fake names to describe the breed, and how it is alway, the door, gate, what ever opened by magic. How long was the guy and his neighbore rap sheet.

But, since we aren’t even told the detective’s name, you can bet the farm he likely won’t be fired, or get more than a slap on the wrist.

I say it’s time to publish the names of bad cops who commit crimes against their fellow private citizens. Let them deal with the public scorn they bring upon themselves.

I find it disgusting that you cheer on a member of the government who shot the dog of a man who committed no crime.

Will the police be protecting this man’s property since they unlawfully deprived him of his dog, Government Boot-Licker?

Are you that ignorant of dogs that you don’t know that Bull Terrier is a recognized breed while pitbull is a type?

Why are you spouting your ignorance of dogs on Free Republic?

Why are you displaying your ignorance of this situation so proudly? Is that what it takes to be a Government Boot-Licker? See no evil, Read no evil committed by Government?

Wrong. But thanks for playing.

Will the police be protecting this man’s house since they unlawfully deprived him of his dog?

Why are you cheering on the Government, and not angry at the crime committed against the Private Citizen?

Hey DA,a bull terrier is not a pit bull, long from it. Also by your post on other threads it has already been determined that in your eyes LE can do no wrong. You have already been labled a boot licker.

Read the article yet? Did you get to the part where a neighbor saw the detective approach the dog with his gun already drawn?

Why didn’t the detective depart and return another time, since his claimed objective was to talk to the dog’s owner? The only reason for him to shoot the dog is if he had already decided his real objective was to shoot the Private Citizen’s dog.

Why is it that the Private Citizen’s mail man and meter readers were able to do their jobs without shooting this dog yet the detective pretended to be unable to do so?
