Posted on 01/21/2011 4:41:49 PM PST by pissant
Rudy Giuliani has already announced that hes considering a run for president in 2012, but, as he tells Piers Morgan in Mondays episode of Piers Morgan Tonight, hell be much more likely to run if Sarah Palin decides to as well.
Giuliani says that running against Palin would position him as a moderate Republican in contrast to Palins views. Morgan called him the acceptable face of the Republican party, to which Americas Mayor replied, Well. I dont know if Im acceptable. The way I got elected as mayor of New York City was not being acceptable. My slogan was You cant do any worse.
He adds that hes learned from his time campaigning in the 2008 primaries and, this time around, will focus his efforts on winning Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Rudy will peel off voters from Romney, not Palin, so go get em Rudy.
Well, he really can’t do any worse than he did the last round.
I will not hold my nose in 2012 when I vote.
Obama positioned himself as a “moderate” communist by running against Hillary and was able to successfully portray himself as the “acceptable racebaiter” for the DemocRATS.
I take it you favor Guiliani over Palin.
So Rudy threatens to become the spoiler, eh? Well, a vote for Rudy is a vote for a second BO term.
Rudy is firing up his base.
Just who is his base, you may ask?
That would be the handful of people tuning in to Piers Morgan.
What is this? I do not dislike Rudy but he chickened out in NY senate and gov races. Sounds like - if a real conservative runs then I will jump in to try to sabotage them.
Nope. I don’t want either.
Another Rudy purge would weed out a bunch of squishy, self-identified ‘conservatives’ from the forum.
If we needed any more proof that Palin is the one and only answer to our situation (and we don’t) this is it.
It’s a little early yet to be flouncing around in a huff, pissant. No one has declared.
Want a laugh?
I’m not in a huff in the least. I’m enjoying the circus.
He’s a man isn’t he, so probably yes.
But ‘Flouncing’ is all he knows.
Please ... let's not start THAT argument again so soon.
>> “Well, a vote for Rudy is a vote for a second BO term” <<
That is precisely why Rudy would run!
What circus-like atmosphere there is regarding 2012 on FR is attributable to you, pissant.
Rudy has no chance b/c of his personal life in the past. Right or wrong, his divorces (and didn’t he serve one wife for divorce while she was being treated for cancer?) and personal life will be publicized and (arguably) blown out of proportion enough that he has no chance. Romney, too, has no chance because of his religion—I’m not saying I agree, just how it will be portrayed.
Ain't that the truth. My biggest fear is that the conservative vote will get split up and a RINO will take the nomination. Like McCain did.
There is absolutely no 'one and only' answer to the problems of this country, and that way of thinking is a problem in itself.
I would hope that his gun grabbing, pro-infanticide ways would be enough to be a non-starter. It is for me, and then some.
Ah - was wondering where his pronouncement came from.
Ah - was wondering where his pronouncement came from.
A few are beginning to test the waters so to speak. Gingrich was supposedly meeting with some of his Georgia people. Now Rudy is making some noise. Just a few days ago Ron Paul said he wasn’t considering the Texas senate race but was more likely to make another presidential run. By tax date we may have a large field splashing around.
There will be 20 candidates on the stage for the first debate.
Not really. It’s the folks living on Fantasy Island who think Palin is a conservative.
You are the circus.
Now I see why you call yourself a dumb blonde.
A non-illuminist candidate is exactly what this country is crying for.
Well, go ahead and cling to Palin as she continues to nosedive. That’s your business.
I knew you were a media plant!
Yeah, my candidates are always big media favorites. Especially when they stand up against the amnesty crowd and the gay agenda. Unlike Palin.
BRING IT ON, RUDY!
LOL! Oh, your argument is so much more convincing when you add the personal attack, especially bringing a screenname into it. That’s all you got?
Rudy Giuliani has done Republicans a favor by telegraphing who the real conservative is among the probable boatload of Republican contenders for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Her name is Sarah Palin. That Rudy wants to run against her (if she declares) says volumes, so, thanks, Rudy.
He’d be skunked in Iowa by Huckabee and/or Palin, and South Carolina will be huge Palin if all things stay as they are. He COULD win New Hampshire, although Romney will poll strong there....
Rudy calls himself a conservative. Shows how bright he is.
Rudy is a Palinista.
He will only run if she does to split the ‘moderate’ vote away from Romney, Daniels and Pawlenty.
Divided they fall. This helps conservative candidates.
You guys need to figure out how politics works. The one with the most votes wins, and if you can get your opponents votes diluted among several candidates, you can win with a smaller plurality.
If Rudy is a Palinista and that is his game plan, you better tell your fellow cultists, they are savaging him.
He will take away enough votes from Romney in NH to allow Governor Palin to win.
He is a stalking horse for Sarah.
This is good news!
OK, fill me in. Why isn’t Palin a conservative? Who do you consider a conservative that might possibly run for prez? Enlighten me, please.
Yikes. That’s freaky
>> I will not hold my nose in 2012 when I vote.
Well, don’t expect the RNC or establishment to hear your message - it gets compensated to lose as far as I’m concerned.
The work should be done today to avoid the necessity of that decision.
They’ll ‘get it’ when the votes come in.
Rudy might find a home somewhere in a Palin administration, who knows?
