T. PETERSBURG - Three law enforcement officers were shot this morning – a U.S. Marshal and two St. Petersburg police officers – in the 3700 block of 28th Avenue South, police said.
A suspected gunman is barricaded in a home at 3726 28th St. S., and police are trying to negotiate with his family members. He is still shooting at police, officers said.
One of the injured officers had been in the home as well, but an armored vehicle knocked down the door and the officer was evacuated. That officer has been taken to Bayfront Medical Center.

I think it was an ACLU lawsuit that the Feds and States had to follow, something about civil rights of the mental institution residents. Many were not there by court order or government action, so ACLU had a toehold.
And when things didn’t work out, naturally Reagon would be blamed.
When No Child Left behind first came out, it was widely publicized that Ted Kennedy was the author and W liked the bill. A year later, no mention of Teddy, but all was Bush’s Fault.
Another day in the "Culture of Death"
It appears there was a bloodbath in the attic. The perp got the cop's gun and was shooting two cops with his arsenal and their own gun. One cop was trapped in the attic for 2 hours w/the perp. I'm sure that cop bled to death. The local cbs station accidentally showed a helicopter shot of a body covered on a gurney.
The trip to Bayfront Medical Center was just to take people from the scene. At Bayfront Medical Center, the Mayor announced two officers deceased.
South Central St. Pete is crime ridden. Many schools all on lockdown. Guy's still in attic but they don't know if he's alive or dead.
Perp yelled that "he'd rather go to hell than back to jail."
I saw a reporter friend on tv but he was in camera view and wasn't reporting.
Serving a warrant on a cop hater requires more than 1 cop and 1 K-9 cop followed by a US Marshall. The guy was a COP HATER, BATTERER AND NOW COP KILLER.
There will be much Monday morning quarterbacking. There were hundreds of rounds fired.
I was talking about just in FLORIDA, in just 4 days 2 cops were shot to death and today, 3 more, one of which just died...

I was born at Bayfront Medical Center when it was Mound Park Hospital. I have the birth certificate to prove it!
One of the cops was dead at scene. I saw body on the gurney. They moved presser to the hospital to calm down the crime scene. There have been riots in St. Pete before. It was an error for the tv helicopter to show a decedent but they did for a split second. The one critical was actually dead at the scene. The other died en route to Bayfront. Those officers were full of bullet holes. The perp got a cop’s gun and shot the cop w/his own gun. It was a horrific incident. The perp should have been in prison. Former Governor Chain Gang Charlie, on his watch IMO. Why was this guy out? What parole board let this guy out on the Street????? Bad guy had so many felonies stacked up and a record.
Three people to deal with a convicted felon? They needed to start out w/swat, not end with it. Not enough manpower to begin with. They moved to Bayfront Med Center to avoid possibility an escalating situation in S. St. Pete. St. Pete had riots across from my office bldg in the nineties. Mostly people who had to leave their homes early were in their bathrobes and pj's. It's chilly today.
First cop went in w/the U.S. Marshall. First cop had his gun wrestled away from him by the perp and the perp shot first cop with cop’s own gun. U.S. Marshall shot in leg. Then 2nd wave was the K-9 cop (also gunned down). Why wasn’t second wave a swat team? A K-9 unit is no match for a guy who’s shooting hundreds of rounds. Sending a K-9 cop in as backup -WTF?
Less homeless shelters. Build more prisons and keep the bad guys behind bars.
Oh how awful. Reading between the lines I sort of figured at least one was dead on scene but didn’t realize all the details you gave.

Liberal judges in the criminal justice system are partially responsible as are liberal or lax parole officers and boards. Florida’s been coddling criminals for a long time. Where’s Governor Rick Scott????? Coddling criminals has got to go. Lots of drugs down there too... lots of shootings down there all the time of men, women and children hit by stray bullets while sleeping in their substandard housing.
My students in my first period class this morning said the dead shooter in Miami is their personal HERO and that all cops deserve to die. Wonder what they'll say when they discover that next year I'm transferring schools to teach at a magnet school that is for students interested in the Criminal Justice system, to include law enforcement, corrections, legal (attorneys) and forensic science. I'll still be teaching social studies, but I'll also be teaching Criminal Justice related classes.
Chief Harmon kept calling the perp, “the gentleman” even while announcing two murdered officers. Why do we call murderers gentlemen?

The attic became a bloodbath. The K-9 cop who was killed; no word on where he was shot but likely he was sprayed with bullets too but not at close range like cop #1.
Chief Harmon's going to be under a microscope. The FBI were already there early on. When I saw FBI, they were just standing around in their bulletproof vests. The cop in the attic didn't stand a chance. Florida attics are not so big. It was more like a crawl space.
