“he makes it his policy to spend no more money?”

Where do you see him promising to spend “no more money”?
His “freeze” is a lie meant to make it look like he’s reducing spending, but in reality he’s fixing spending increases at current levels. He’s doubled spending in the last two years for his progressive b.s. and intends to keep spending. We need to cut spending, not fix the increase at present levels.

Freeze spending at high levels, then say you need higher taxes.

Freeze means only the usual 5% annual increase but no more beyond that and this time I mean it.

.THEN he makes it his policy to spend no more money?

Correction: Freezes his spending level at its highest. Clever, no?

Freeze spending vs. cutting spending ?

Not convinced Mr. Soetero has seen the light, and nothing he talks about tonight will change that. He is a marxist, he doesn’t plan to do what is necessary.

If he were to drive getting some serious cuts in spending done... he would finally have his first accomplishment in office. His whacked-out liberal ideology is in the way, he won’t do it.

I think you get it.

Yes, spending levels are too high, and people are rightfully demanding serious cuts. The cuts are the correct solution. The fact that Obama is not promising cuts is a clear indication that he doesn't "get it".

But the really essential thing is that Obama is not honestly calling for even a true freeze (as bad as that would be). He's going to call it a freeze, and then he's going to increase spending. He is shameless.

Defund Obamacare, HHS, HUD, DOE, EPA, UN and then cut back to ˜04 levels.

Agreed. Obama is probably using the “baseline spending” ruse which has built in annual increases. Also, according to the article he is allegedly “freezing” only “non-security, discretionary” spending. That excludes so called “emergency” spending which is just about everything in the budget. He’s also probably excluding his “investments” which, of course, are not spending at all.

Since the Democrats think this is such a great idea, and they also think Bill Clinton was such a great president, let’s freeze spending alright....at the level of Bill Clinton’s last year in office, 2000.

After he jacks up our spending, he thinks it is an accomplishment to freeze it at that level for 5 years. We can’t MAINTAIN that level of spending for 5 years.

Looks like the Obama speech-writers are having a hard time today. They’re throwing out all kinds of trial balloons.

No COLA for social security for 5 additional years?

No bailouts of any kind?

Congressmen Brad Sherman and Paul Kanjorski and Senator James Inhofe all say that the government warned of martial law if Tarp wasn't passed.

Obama responded, “You know, if my neighbor’s house is on fire, even if they were smoking in the bedroom or leaving the stove on, right now my main incentive is to put out that fire so that it doesn’t spread to my house.”

No investment in green technology?

WASHINGTON — The changing global climate will pose profound strategic challenges to the United States in coming decades, raising the prospect of military intervention to deal with the effects of violent storms, drought, mass migration and pandemics, military and intelligence analysts say.

Such climate-induced crises could topple governments, feed terrorist movements or destabilize entire regions, say the analysts, experts at the Pentagon and intelligence agencies who for the first time are taking a serious look at the national security implications of climate change.

No additional funds for education?

At a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday, First Lady Michelle Obama announced the launch of the 'Let's Move' campaign to end childhood obesity in the United States, an epidemic she said is costly and a threat to national security.

By “No More Money” I mean he proposes to not spend more money than the current budget...not that he isn’t spending ANY more money...just no more/no less...

And for his next trick he will make the elephants disappear.

If just 30% of the population were as savvy as Freepers then I would be amused by this lame bit of legerdemain.

Unfortunately, they aren't and we are soooo screwed!

Obama can make all the proclamations he wants, but the fact is that the Federal Budget will come from the Republican controlled House of Representative.

We can expect it to be a Balanced Budget in no time.
