How can a Dem president tell that his SOTU was a for-real floperewski? When even Andrea Mitchell pans it. Yet that's precisely what NBC's chief foreign affairs correspondent did on Morning Joe today.
What was particularly unkind about Andrea's cut was that she criticized both the form and the substance of the speech. After observing that Pres. Obama's oratory lacked "energy" and "passion," Mitchell opined that "it doesn't add up. The dollars and cents don't add up." Ouch.
Before Andrea's assessment, the rest of the panel, with the notable exception of Howard Dean who managed to defend the speech, took turns lampooning it, with Joe Scarborough contributing a particularly scathing basketball analogy.

This is what Abilene folks thought of it.
What happened to the 90% approval of Obama’s speech I heard about on the radio?
Matthews ought to keep it up. The more he talks, the fewer the number of people who think he has any credibility.
Agreed. I’ve seen more negativity lately, too. And count me in with the rest of the negatives. I can’t stand anything about this administration and that includes those on this side of the aisle who look the other way and pander to the little brat. There are many people who are nervous about what’s coming down the road - inflation, war, civil unrest, unemployment. I’ve never seen so many worried and feel it’s going to get worse, much worse in the coming months.
The Nazis used to claim, “Germany is Hitler and Hitler is Germany” Our MSM can claim, “Obama is the media and the media is Obama”. Like Siamese twins they are inextricably joined.
"What we have here. Is failure to communicate."
Amen.
A leader can survive almost anything except ridicule. It’s part of the Alinsky strategy.
LOL: perfect!
Cutting regulations for one, the left hated him going there after the EPA/W.V. mining fiasco and also backing down on the Bush tax cuts like he did, he didn’t say that in the speech but it is still stinging them. As far as believing anything he read last night then no, not a single word except for wanting to raise the taxes on the top two percent of wage earners, I believed that like gospel.
Well MSNBC and the other MSM have been for about 3 weeks breathlessly trying to built up the excitment about how Obama was going to dazzle everyone with his great speech. To truth of the matter was it was flat and boring. Very boring. No one will remember that speech. I knew after the first one minute that it was going to be a dud.

Lotsa ‘tingles’ from arms and legs going to sleep. Probably some snoring, too.
My record of never hearing or viewing a full speech or even an interview by this guy is intact. I know what he sounds like from a few sound bites but that is it. If I stumble across him it’s an instant turn off. Living in Canada makes it a bit easier to avoid him.
PAT BUCHANAN said it best: “Very flat.....no energy, no inspiration....what came to mind was a phrase about Harding’s speech: an army of pompous phrases marching across the landscape in search of an idea.”
