It’s a recent tradition springing from the SOTU being televised and you are right, it is silly, a silly waste of everyone’s time and bandwidth. It became a regular event because the president and his party can use it as a free televised campaign rally. It is and always has been largely empty rhetoric. The president is required to submit the SOTU “from time to time” and for most of our history was submitted in writing. Geo. Washington presented his SOTU in person and was so disrespected that he did not go back again.

Absolutely. Mark Levin has the amazing ability to distill cluttered concepts to their essence. I wish he could bottle it.
