He might be one of the most famous faces on U.S. television, but when it comes to airport security Regis Philbin is subject to the same humiliating rules as everybody else.
The veteran talk show host - famous for Live With Regis And Kelly on ABC - came face to face with the Transport Security Administration regulations as he flew out of Los Angeles International Airport.
But despite a rather untypical suicide bomber appearance, the 79-year-old - who was travelling with his wife Joy - was given a 'pat-down' search as he made his way through the security area.
Amused airport staff clearly recognised him, showing just how farcical the stringent security measures have become.
It seems highly unlikely that after his recent retirement, the popular host would take up a new career in terrorism.
Regis appeared to comply good-naturedly with the regulations, however, waiting patiently with his arms outstretched while the security men went about their business.
The new security measures at US airports - which include 'pat-down' techniques and body scanners have been causing controversy in recent months.

TSA employees seem to be going out of their way to show how stupid and pointless their own policies and procedures really are.
For those of you who have just returned from a six month vacation on Pluto.
I feel sorry for whoever had to touch him.
It's about REPARATIONS.
I flew from LA to Dallas yesterday and at LAX, I got an x-ray and a groping.
Better him than Oprah.
Given my “druthers” I’d druther do Kelly.
I always liked Regis. Not really sure of his politics, if i had to guess hes a Reagan man.But the few times I have watched him he was a lot of fun.
I wonder what it's like to be one of these TSA clowns. Do they go home at the end of the day and say: "Hi Honey, can you guess whose ass I got to grab today? Guess whose genitals I fondled!"
They are just you run of the mill government workers.
Blame it on Bush people.
Gotta give this guy credit. He flew commercial. Oprah’s only commercial is the ones that brings in more money to her.
I think most of them hate it.
Years ago he was in the audience at Rush’s TV show. Regis’ son was a big fan. I would venture that he leans to the right but keeps his politics close to the vest so as not to antagonize his show business buddies.
Sometimes that’s the smart thing to do. I wish others would follow suit.
