More than one third of U.S. women will have had an abortion by age 45

Some 35 per cent of women will have had an abortion by the time they are aged 45, a new report has claimed.

The pro-abortion rights Alan Guttmacher Institute also reported that 93 per cent of all abortions occur for 'social reasons'.

Those include instances such as the mother deciding the child is unwanted or 'inconvenient'.

And, surprisingly, the institute claimed that 31 per cent of all abortions performed nationwide are on Catholic women. It also said 18 per cent are performed on born-again Christians or evangelicals.

Both religious groups preach against terminating pregnancies.

The numbers were publicised today as America marked the 38th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision.

That 1973 ruling ushered in legal abortion nationwide. President Barack Obama marked the anniversary by stating his commitment to protecting abortion as a 'constitutional right'.

He said the decision 'protects women's health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.'

But with recent polls showing support for abortion slipping and the Republican takeover of the U.S. House of representatives, pro-life campaigners are sensing an opportunity to roll back those rights.

Today hundreds of pro-life campaigners held a March for Life demonstration in Washington to mark the anniversary.

The Institute told CBS News there have been nearly 50million abortions performed since the decision. Guttmacher said there

Here’a another hard to believe factoid:

93% of these abortions are for social reasons ( e.g., the baby is inconvenient to have ).

Second and third paragraph of article says so.

Some people used to tell Mother Teresa that without abortion there would be too many children in the world. Mother Teresa answered them with this retort: “That’s like saying there are too many stars.”

God bless her.

We always get more of anything the gubmint subsidizes.
Ironically, there will be fewer liberals in the next generation, so they are killing their future.

“Today hundreds of pro-life campaigners held a March for Life...”

Wrong. Fox estimated 100,000 marched for God’s gift of life.

If true, ending RvW would not make much of a change. Pro-life advocates should address mothers more and politicians less.

“93% of these abortions are for social reasons ( e.g., the baby is inconvenient to have ).”

That’s NOT hard to believe. In fact, that’s probably pretty accurate; after all, what other reason is there for killing a baby, I mean, having an abortion?

We really have no idea if this information is correct.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute is a division of Planned Parenthood.

Consider the source.

The impression they want to give is that a lot is done for reasons like rape or the life of the mother being threatened with the pregnancy. But we all know that that’s not the real reason underlying their wanting to make abortion legal.

It is probably like most stats. they take the total number of abortion divided by the total number of women. They do not factor in women that get multiple abortions. And there are women out there that have had 4 or 5 or more. They use abortion as birth control. Very sad however you look at it.

I tried to find some more information about this study. It appears to me that the researchers took the number of abortions performed and divided it into the total number of woman (of a certain age). It does not appear to take into account one woman having multiple abortions.

Well, to quote one of my late Uncles, “Abortion is just one less Liberal Democrat or Welfare recipient to worry about! He was crude, but quite correct.

It tragically can go up to half or even three-fourths. God has no trouble allocating more slots in hell (for the unrepentant).

I wouldn’t trust Planned Paretnhood, via Guttmacher, to tell the truth either way.

As a health practioner, I have had a lot of women tell me they have had abortions, and they tell NO ONE but their healthcare people.

It’s far more than you think, people. They sit in church next to you and say Amen, but they have this secret shame they deal with.

IMHO, it’s the reason the country is leaning against abortion.

These women all did it when they were young, and felt they had no choice. As they got older, got their lives more into shape, had families, and started to get their hearts in spiritual order, they realized what they did was a horror. But they can’t tell anyone, because they know people will never look at them the same way. It’s a hidden guilt they live with.

I can also say several women I know could not get pregnant again after the abortion. That REALLY is a hard thing to deal with.

The bogus part of this may be that they count women with multiple abortions - I know one who admitted to five - that type of thing like the number of failed marriages, the number that fail three times is almost as great as they number that fail once, is what screws up marriage and birth data.
