Chocolate strawberries among extravagant demands by Nancy Pelosi as she spent $101,000 in two years on services while travelling with US Airforce

If the US Airforce did all airline food, it would be strawberries dipped in dark chocolate and grilled chicken salads all round.

Unfortunately this luxury is reserved for top US politicians alone, as new documents detailing Nancy Pelosi's travel expenses reveal.

The former House Speaker was showered with a cornucopia of gourmet food and alcohol as she travelled over 90,000 miles around the world in just nine months last year - all courtesy of the US Airforce (USAF).

On one overseas excursion, her office even wrote to the USAF asking for strawberries dipped in dark chocolate as a birthday treat.

The documents, uncovered by political corruption watchdog Judicial Watch, reveal that the US taxpayer was billed for $101,429 (£64,000) in Mrs Pelosi's in-flight services over a period of two years.

One internal Air Force email sent on March 25, 2010 said: 'The speaker’s office is requesting egg salad sandwiches on wheat toast with fruit (watermelon, etc) for desert [sic].

Wonder if she got her frequent flier miles from flights and extras??!!!

She looks lots older after her speaker tenure. I LOVED seeing her sitting in the audience at the SOTU!!

As Mae West said which applies to many, “Too much of a good thing is...WONDERFUL!”

“This really doesn’t bother me so much.”

Does me, because it is dripping in hypocrisy. These kinds of telling behaviors by these self-entitiled parasites should be exposed at each and every opportunity.

We need to strip them of all these perks and take back the power.

Amen.
It may take a while to get everything in place for the perfect storm but it is worth it. To take back our country from these liberal/socialist freaks and their media friends will be well worth the fight. Tough job, but I’m in.

If it was Sarah Palin ordering up chocolate covered strawberries on military aircraft at taxpayer expense, it would be the scandal to end all scandals. Thousands of ambulances equipped with defibrillators would need to be dispatched all over DC to revive all the liberals who would fall to the ground in apoplectic fits.

Military Pay Tables for 2011

Read it and weep.

Congress should NEVER make more than our military personnel.

Exactly, we'd never hear the end of it. With Pelosi, hardly anyone will hear about it.

"I’m supposed to get all worked up over Pelosi spending a hundred grand on military flights?"

Yes you are. Her personal extravagances are symptomatic of government's general attitude toward the stewardship of 'OPM'.

Not getting worked up about this is like saying, "People are dying of small-pox all around me and I'm supposed to get worked up over a small skin lesion?"

Pelosi's indulgences are inseperable from the national debt as a whole.

The revelations were among 2,000 pages documenting Mrs Pelosi's travel expenses, obtained by Judicial Watch.

Everything affiliated with the battleaxe in written form is over 2000 pages long.

What an absolute disgrace particularly because she could have paid for those trips. Her arrogance is standard operating procedure though. It accomplished the main goal: to tell America & Americans to F.O.

Let’s hope the new Speaker doesn’t let this happen AT ALL. It’s a disgusting abuse of power.

This REALLY bothers me too!

Not just because of they hypocracy, but NONE of our ‘elected’ officials should be living anywhere NEAR royalty!

THIS is the very stuff that put state heads of old on the guillotine. obama is just as bad -living like a rock star on OUR dime.

The founders intended these elected positions to be TEMPORARY SERVICE positions. - To take them AWAY from their own business at a personal loss for a time, in order to SERVE the PUBLIC.

90,000 miles, $101K billed for services.
That’s just over a dollar a mile. Think about the length of the last RT plane trip you took and multiply that number of miles by $1.10. That gives you an idea of how much someone like Nancy Pelosi expected in terms of services for such a flight. For a RT flight to her home district, that would be the equivalent of more than $6K!!!!

Commercial airline travel costs less than 12 cents per seat mile.
http://web.mit.edu/airlinedata/www/2009%2012%20Month%20Documents/Expense%20Related/Total/System%20Total%20Expense%20per%20Available%20Seat%20Mile%20%28CASM%20ex%20Transport%20Related%29.htm

That gives you some idea of just how obscene and inappropriate this level of spending is. It would appear that the nation’s “entitlements crisis” encompasses far more than our ability to bankroll future promises to those on Medicare and SS. Our overlords clearly have an entitlement mentality that would make Roman emperors look like pikers.

I’m not saying it’s right, but c’mon. If I got worked up over this, how am I supposed to feel about the billions of other dollars pissed away? It’s pretty much a given that senior government officials are going to get some perks. Would I eliminate the perks if I could? Yeah, sure. But we’ve got deadly serious, economy destroying things going on. This sort of crap is down in the weeds.
