President Obamas call for Congress to pass a mandate that includes both traditional renewable energy sources like wind and solar as well as GOP favorites nuclear and clean coal may be the driver needed to bang through the most aggressive and politically feasible means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions on Capitol Hill this Congress.
Obama set a new goal in his speech Tuesday night, calling for 80 percent of U.S. electricity to stem from clean energy sources by 2035. Some folks want wind and solar. Others want nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas, Obama said. To meet this goal, we will need them all and I urge Democrats and Republicans to work together to make it happen.
The idea of a clean energy standard has been batted around in recent years and has received bipartisan interest.
Outstanding. Its terrific, said Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.).
Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) have proposed the idea and Democrats like Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) have shown interest.

At least we know who NOT to vote for in 2012..
Wonder who wins if Obama forces states to go to nuclear power GE? who else is on the cash wagon?.
My prediction..Graham knows that he will lose a primary next time out. So, he will be Obama’s next SecDef. It’s perfect..allows Obama to claim a bipartisan mantle, gives Graham a graceful exit. He has military experience. It works on every level..Also, GOP won’t object, since Haley will be able to pick a stong conservative replacement.
fyi
John F'ing Scarry thinks it's cool so Lady Linda's gotta take up the chant. Queer Doofus!!
