Move over macaroons -- it's pie's turn at the tiara.
As recently reported, pies, in all their delicious sweet and savoury glory, are looking to take the world by storm this year.
Everyone from trend watchers to food industry types have been trumpeting that a slice of nice is the way to go -- in fact, pie popularity is showing up everywhere from restaurants to retailers, wholesalers and even the wedding cake industry.
And having just recently celebrated National Pie Day (Jan. 23 -- pie making as easy as 1-2-3!) we're looking at the whole month of February to pay homage to this humble treat , says the American Pie Council, (APC) the only organization committed to preserving pie heritage.
Why pies? They're a part of popular culture and interwoven in the fabric of national identity. Plus they represent the quintessential comfort food, a la mode.
"Pies are part of our heritage, but they've become even more popular among dessert lovers," notes Linda Hoskins, executive director of the APC.
And places like Toronto's Canadian Pie Company (Thecanadianpiecompany.com), which recently opened up its doors to wholesale and retail, offering pies across the nation-- are astonished at the response: "I can't bake them fast enough!" says Erez Hadad, co-founder and baker along with his wife Keren. "We're consistently sold out of pies every weekend--Canada is definitely a pie country."

Reminds of my fraternity days at
Etta Bitta Pi.
Seriesly, Blueberry mmmmmmm.
Pi Day is March 14th. All others are pretenders.
We need some FR favorite pie recipes!!!
And just wait until 2016 for the big celebration.
A pi pie?
And look! We even have one of these...
Wonder if they get funding...with whipped cream on it....
Made a fresh strawberry pie the other day for some guests. It had a pre-made shortbread crust. Delicious!
Doesn’t seem rational.
In the immortal words of Dennis Miller, Ahh f it. Who wants pie?
Why wait until 2016 when we can go crazy at 9AM 2015.
Which is good. Rationality is wasted on pie.
