As a parent I work with youth every day. They are called my children - I take them to sports and homework and all the thing AFTER work that have to be scheduled into the day.

There is no better “mentor” THAN A FRIGGING JOB !!!

Maybe today’s yoots would have a better chance at unemployment without;
1. Illegal aliens
2. The minimum wage
3. Government taxation and interference

A typically “suspicionless” leftist. She never had an actual job and doesn’t understand that in the real world, they do happen to exist!!!

Your right on that one...employers pay employee’s to work. Let them mentor on their own dime....the woman is a nut case.

I'm not convinced that the feds need an agency to oversee volunteerism.

Is “clueless dopes” a euphemism for “communists”?

There sure ain’t any jobs here Michelle, dear....

Maybe the federal government employees will jump on this. Most of them are incompetent anyway, and waste our taxpayer money. So, why not waste more by not being on the job?

She is stupid as stupid can be.

Do these never-had-a-real-job ideological idiots ever give a second’s thought to productivity? Despite all of their efforts, not everyone is as of yet in a make-work government position. Some folks actually do jobs that produce real products and services. They should be encouraged to work — not told to take time off to play with the kiddies. The woman is a shiftless, walking disaster.

“Volunteerism”. LOLOLOLOL! In Michelle’s eyes, we’re all just slaves for the state.

Yeah, that will really increase productivity! These people do not live in the real world. If “employees” are going to mentor youth, they can and do mentor youth and not slack off their jobs while doing so. They do it o their own time and on their own dime. Has she ever managed an office full of people in her life? What if someone told her that her 100 White House staffers were going to spend part of their work week “mentoring youth”? I have an idea. She should go first.

The best way for businesses to mentor youth is to hire them.

Make it easier for businesses to hire them and you’ll solve all kinds of problems.

I agree with post #7. Stop raising the minimum wage (especially for underage kids), and stop allowing illegal workers onto the market, and the demand for young workers will rise. Nothing prepares a kid for adulthood like working for his money (and the interacting with adults that comes along with it).

They used to encourage it, with high school programs that allowed a kid to take partial credit for paid work.
