Monster snowstorms still spell global warming (Libs still trying to push the Global Warming hoax)
cnn ^ | 1/27/2011 | (Lib) Michio Kaku

Posted on 01/27/2011 5:34:31 PM PST by tobyhill

The weather seems to be going berserk, with more snow dumped on our beleaguered Northeastern cities in a month than in a year, paralyzing business and our lives. Records are being broken even as we speak.

Common sense says that it's the freezing cold that is behind the freaky weather. But physics says otherwise.

Basically, snowstorms in this region arise from the collision of cold Arctic air from Canada moving south and bumping up against warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, causing water vapor to condense and freeze and then form snowstorms, which travel up the Northeast corridor.

Among many factors, the amount of snow dumped is largely driven by the amount of moisture in humid air and not so much the temperature, and this seems to go against common sense. (For example, if we are making ice cubes, the amount of water in the ice tray, not the temperature, determines how much ice we can make. If we crank down the temperature dial in our freezer, this simply makes the ice freeze faster but does not increase the amount of ice produced.)

Physicists at the top of their fields usually don't know jacksh*t about ANYTHING else. Which means that this guy is pretty much an idiot savant. Which means he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to the weather.

I should know - I was a physics major when I started college. If I hadn't quit to learn real stuff, I shudder to think what a freaking moron I would be about the world.

Bullcrap. It's a La Nina year. The East always gets hammered in a La Nina. That's also why we had 60 degrees and clear today here.

“Michio Kaku: But physics says otherwise.”

Yeah, sure - that’s why all the climatologists a decade ago were predicting ten years of unusually cold and snowy winters, right?

I was in Columbus for that.

Absolutely the worst weather event I've ever witnessed.

As I recall, the wind was blowing 70 mph...from the north in Dayton...from the south in Columbus...and Washington Court House, the center of the storm, recorded the lowest barometric pressure ever in the U.S.

Stuck in an airport motel without power for four days. The car was up to his hubs in ice in the parking lot.

I'll never forget it.

Warm globally, cool locally!

Those Leftist idiots keep making my parody of, “think globally, act locally” into reality!

Anyone know Michio Kaku’s email address so we can flood his mailbox with anti-global warming emails?

A couple years ago a friend told me that the North Pole would be totally ice free by 2020.

It isn't NW Ohio, but I lived in Cincinnati for five years back in the sixties. Loved the city and the area.

My favorite memory of NW Ohio is a drug store in Van Wert that served a near-perfect breakfast -- complete with fresh-squeezed orange juice.

Actually, it’s been that way before, in the 1960’s. Photos of our subs up there.

Other than that, I just want to rant.

I’ve been shoveling my ass off for the last month. I swear the next dumb son of a biche mentions global warming, I’m a gonna smak em.

Thank you, feeling better now.

Yes, yes, and yes. The Skate and the Seadragon - 1959 (a very good year) through 1962.

Surfaced above the arctic circle and at the north pole.

What? No Ice Cover ??

CNN better review Al Gore’s movie and pronouncements by RFK Jr.. Gore told us that the earth has a fever and that temperatures would be increasing melting the polar ice caps etc. RFK Jr told us that snow would be only a memory in Washington, DC. Both were dead wrong and now CNN is trying to tell us that these record cold and snowfall events are the result of global warming.

Yes. Of course. There was never heavy snow in the Winter in the Olden Days, except when there was.

Perhaps Michio can provide one single scientific citation published prior to the year 2000 that states higher concentrations of human generated CO2 will cause more total snow during the winter. Just asking for one. Heck, will even extend the cutoff year to 2005.

Among many factors, the amount of snow dumped is largely driven by the amount of moisture in humid air and not so much the temperature...BS - for years the moisture-laden air arriving here in south Jersey during the winter months would usually produce rain storms - for the last two years it's produced mountains of snow - the difference isn't in the amounts of moisture - it's in the the temperature, and it ain't getting warmer.....

This is why one can’t even have a reasonable discussion with the global warming proponents: If temperatures are above the norm, it’s evidence of global warming. If temperatures are far below the average and breaking records (as with this winter), it’s evidence of global warming. Yes, we have no bananas!
