he Senate may vote as early as this week on legislation that would repeal the Obamacare law that contains abortion and rationing concerns of pro-life groups. The vote would come on the heels of a ruling by a federal judge declaring the law unconstitutional.
Sen. John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, said today the Senate may vote on the House-passed legislation this week, putting on Twitter: Vote on health care repeal could come as early as this week in the Senate.
Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Jim DeMint of North Carolina, both of whom are pro-life, have led the way in the effort to repeal the Obamacare legislation. last week, McConnell started the process of attempting to get the Senate to repeal the law by employing a Senate rule typically reserved for party leaders that allows them to bypass committee action on legislation and place the bill directly before the Senate.

This would be great if it comes to pass. Any ideas on #s of dems who may support repeal? I’m thinking Ben Nelson, Joe Manchin, Jim Webb (if he knows what’s good for him), and possibly Jon Tester... all up for reelection in ‘12.
Praying it happens.
What if they had a vote and everyone voted “Present”
Exactly. We want the names of those legislators who want to defy the court order. The supremes need to fast track this.
Up front and center on a vote is the directive of the weasels.
Yep, expect a weasel mandate to promote the will of the people over weasels.
tic...toc...tic...toc...
“Praying it happens.”
If all it took were 50 votes, I think the Republicans would have no problem. But to shut down debate requires 60 votes: I’m dubious Republicans have that many. And there is no reconciliation bill they can use to bypass the 60-vote requirement. But it would be delicious to see Dems have to go on record explaining why they support an unconstitutional law.
You could add Claire McCaskill (D-MO) to that list, unless she is prepared to fall on her sword over the issue. MO passed a measure against the mandate last election with 70% approval.
bump
Yep. Get every Republican on record for repeal and make the Democrats own this sucker.
“Get the weasels on record supporting this unconstitutional garbage.”
Yep. (And then keep reminding Americans by bringing it up again for another Senate vote every few months, to hammer home the point.)
The latest court ruling on Obamacare will give all moderate democrats cover to vote against Obamacare - if they want to. If they do not, then when they come up for re-election, those that are up in conservative leaning districts will have campaign ads run against them citing their votes on the matter.
have the vote to repeal ...after it goes down ..have an amendment to the bill ready that removes the waiver for senators, reps, and their staff ...so the dems say no on repeal ...but, have to vote again to exempt themselves from the law
It’s moot. A Federal Judge just ruled the whole think unconstitutional.
Nice!
He didn’t halt its implementation, which he could have, while the appeals are filed. You can bet your bottom dollar the bastards are wasting every nickel they can scrounge to set this boondoggle bureaucracy up as we speak
Many of the “moderate Democrat senators” (read: red state senators who should be in fear of their electoral life) only voted for that turkey because they were told a defeat of health care would be fatal to Obama’s political life.
A successful repeal vote, which would force an Obama veto in the face of congressional, judicial and popular opposition, would be at least as fatal.
I hope those Senate scum are sweating bullets - they gave us this piece of crap, and now they can pay for it with a tough vote that will follow them all the way to their next election (if they don’t bail out first).
Why aren’t the House Republicans defunding every single red shoot of obama’s death care? They need to stop this BULLSH!T now before it takes root.
