U.S. Democrat Sees Health Law Surviving Repeal Move
Published February 01, 2011
Reuters

WASHINGTON – A leading U.S. Senate Democrat said Tuesday that President Barack Obama's healthcare overhaul will likely survive an effort by Senate Republicans to repeal the year-old law.

Senator Charles Schumer told reporters that there is enough support in the Senate to keep the healthcare law intact. All 47 Senate Republicans have backed a bill to repeal the law. But that falls short of the 60 needed to overcome procedural hurdles in the 100-member Senate. Republicans may try to offer the repeal, which pass the House on Jan. 19, as an amendment to an unrelated airline safety bill as early this week.

If that happens, then it is up to we, the people to refuse to acknowledge, participate or pay a single red cent that has anything to do with Deathcare.

Not quite moot. That judge’s ruling only applies to that circuit which I believe is restricted to Florida, Georgia and Alabama. It’ll need to be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court for it to be moot.

I like to listen to the congress critters on C/Span. I’ve been watching this one all day.

Has anyone noticed how the Democrats have taken on a soft, syrupy voice? They are trying to sound like they “really care” /sarc and are “hurting” for the people. Bob Casey is now reading a list of war heroes and he is mirprouncing almost all the names and constantly saying, excuse me . . . I’m sorry, uh uh, as he corrects the names (couldn’t even get Joshua out).

It is so obvious that this is just a ploy to make them sound like they really care. (insert puking smilie here).

Sickening!

mirprouncing - mispronouncing (but miprounc is also probably acceptable).

Well, you communist scumbag piece of foreskin, all that means is that there are still too many Marxists in the Senate.

We'll remedy that in a mere 22 months.

"...Anyone voting against repeal is voting for an unconstitutional law as ruled by the Judicial Branch..." Wait -there are only 3 branches! What is this "judicial" Branch?

Vote in the Senate on this anti-freedom abomination now and every month until the election. Get the anti-America, anti-America losers on record. We will not forget, you traitorous, unconstitutional freaks. We will not forget.

Yes, it matters most deeply.

The judges voiding is going to be appealed. Then from the appeals court to the Supreme Court.

The legal process is going to be a long and tortuous process.

Please see post 131.

I don’t pretend to understand it in depth, but to me the judge clearly wanted the Feds to stop.

His order has not (yet) been stayed. His ruling is therefore in effect.

And yes, this will go on.

“And immediaterly begin acting as if this is a done deal, because it’s been ruled unconstitutional.”

There are still appeal courts and then ultimately the SCOTUS. We cannot be sure how they will rule.

Whatever, the IDEA isn’t actually repeal, it is forcing Democrats as GOING ON RECORD AS FOR OR AGAINST this poor legislation. This will be something they have to defend in 2012.

Where did you get the info. that a Senate vote could be within hours? Just wondering.

Fox News. Megyn Kelly was interviewing Carl Cameron and they both agreed that it would happen tonight. From what I hear now, that vote won't hit until Wednesday.

I disagree. I believe that the deliberative bodies of our government need to condemn this travesty on the record. Prohibit this type of incrusion onto Liberty once and for all. Throw the progressives out forever!

I do not believe that repeal without a Veto from the Won is going to happen, as this is the framework he needs to perpetuate his thugocracy and take it to the next level...

Legislative repeal (even if it is unsuccessful) along with a SCOTUS opinion that the law violates the constitution, plus a dissent from the far left Socialists indicating their willingness to let Liberty and personal freedom be destroyed for Social Justice, well that would be delicious!

As Judge Napolitano explained on FBC, Vinson’s ruling only applies in his district.

I like Napolitano but that doesn't make much sense. Vinson is a federal judge, in a federal courthouse, making a federal ruling. It should go way beyond his district.
