“Young web genius.” “Suspected of involvement in international cyber attacks.” “Passionate about computers since he was 6 years old.” “The brains behind the WikiLeaks avengers.” In recent days, there has been a media frenzy around a 15 year old boy from Auvergne and his involvement in the pro-WikiLeaks movement. This last December several major banking companies, such as Visa and Mastercard, decided to cut their services for Julian Assange’s website. The aftermath was entirely unexpected; an “Anonymous” user launched a massive denial-of-services attacks (DDoS) which which paralyzed these companies’ websites. Apparently, this teenage French hacker coordinated these massive attacks from his family’s computer “in the middle of dirty socks and t-shirts.”

Does this ring a bell? In March another young hacker from Auvergne, François Cousteix (online known as Hacker-croll), was arrested for attempting to hack into the Twitter account of Barack Obama. While FBI agents were intensely combing through The Clermont Ferrand valley, the prosecutor tried to deflate the situation. “He is not a pirate, the costume is too big for him,” he said.

The posting name “Anonymous” is used by millions of people around the globe on thousands of websites...This one particular young man may have a reputation - but few posts by “Anonymous” can be separated around the world by a few examples from any of the millions...

Sounds like a total geek to me, who could use some time away from his computer and socializing with living things like...you know...girls who are not made of plastic.

But more seriously, I checked on the link that displayed the “V” mask, and that’s a definite symbol of anarchy. It’s from the same movie/novel that the recent shooter in Florida (not Loughner from Arizona, but before him in December) was a fan of.

The anarchy symbol is an A in a circle with a broad slash through both.

Best in red... Tho a true anarchist does not know what an A or circle is, they can repeat demonstrated patterns after they have seen them and had it explained to them.

The “V” mask and Anonymous are the trademarks of the /b/tards at 4chan.org. You’d think the Palin hacking affair would’ve taught them they’re not as anonymous as they might think.

Does it annoy you that some of our founding fathers wrote anonymous tracts to persuade their countrymen to accept the Constitution?

It's a sword. It cuts 2 ways.

Our founders wrote anonymously because they were sworn loyal subjects to the Crown, in revolt, subject to death for a verified act of treason.

What be your excuse randoman...?
