On January 24, Former President George W. Bush spoke at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where his presidential library will be located, and weighed in on immigration. "What's interesting about our country, if you study history, is that there are some 'isms' that occasionally pop up -- pop up.

I’m more worried about the federal government becoming useless - or worse, dangerous.

Bush won’t criticize Obama but he’s free with criticism of the people who elected him twice.

Bush (and maybe you) conflates two separate issues; Isolationism, and control of the borders.

I am not an isolationist and I want to see the borders sealed.

I believe we need to engage fully with the world AS A SOVEREIGN NATION! You open the boarders like Bush advocates you are surrendering your sovereignty.

I only voted Bush because of Gore and Kerry.

Yes, but 4 years of Kerry (04-08) might have given us a better candidate than McCain in 08, and Obama would probably not have run against the incumbent, thus, would not be in the White House now.

“No nativist like you has his or her head in the sand and continues to live in the past.. We tried isolationism and it didn’t work.. We tried protectionism and it didn’t work..”

That is preferable to where you have your head!

Lol, well, you and GWB have proven that you can repeat the slur words like trained parrots. But what in the hell do you mean? It is not possible to be isolationist or protectionist in the 21st century, but that doesn't mean we have to give away all our manufacturing industries, and our consumer market, or open our borders to any and all comers.

You're dealing out slur words on par with the Reverends Al and JJ. Get very specific. Explain what you think you mean.

We allow 1.2 million plus legal immigrants annually. So, do you consider that to be too few? Tell us what our immigration policy should be rather than slinging around the predictable slurs in so mindless a manner.

Bingo! Had I known what a new world order POS this jerk off is I would never have voted for him twice!

Auggh!

He makes me feel sick, I wish he and his family would just go away.
Why don’t he, Laura and gay Barbie retire to Mexico and stay there?

What was the last generation of Bushes to be vaguely in touch with America? (And not just putting on a good act, like W.)

GW is speaking in hyperbole and coming off like an idiot. This is when I really don’t like him. He is exposing himself to be a woolly globalist. Our sovereign borders means nothing to him. Running up ruinous trade deficits mean nothing to him

Like the other elites GW and all the Bushs are well insulated from the chaos their policies cause in middle class America. IF GW was still president he would still be pimping free trade with Mexico and going on about what wonderful partners they are. At least the Kenyan doesn’t waste time doing this. GW had a hard on for Mexico and its people ....It’s an elitist kind of thing

We could use a large dose of xenophobia. I’m sick of foreigners coming here and not paying taxes and ripping off America in other ways. Sick of them coming here and immediately getting affirmative action jobs and college scholarships. Someone can immigrate from Vietnam or Africa and get a Bill Gates Millennium college scholarship. While white kids whose families have been here for generations and fought our wars are excluded

Jorge is morphing into another Jimmy Carter.

He promised to stay out of politics.
But he just couldn’t resist taking another swipe at the only people who treated him decently during his presidency.

I already knew Bush was a Globalist when I voted for him. I only did so out of fear of Democrats. I never liked Bush or his father. I liked Reagan and I liked JKK until the Bay of Pigs.
