Mexico said Thursday it was temporarily suspending an offer to provide electricity to Texas to help the U.S. state weather an ice storm that forced rolling blackouts,
Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission had said Wednesday it had agreed to transmit 280 megawatts of electricity to Texas.
But on Thursday, the commission said it was temporarily suspending the transfer because below-freezing temperatures in northern Mexico
In Texas, rolling blackouts have been implemented, including in Super Bowl host city Dallas, due to high demand during the rare ice storm.

Wow...I had no idea about the NG issues there..
Dang!...I had no idea this was affecting NM like this.
Seen a number of gas compressor stations and none are electric powered, they run on gas which happens to be readily available right at the compressor station.
You have lots of NG in NM, shortage is not Texas fault. Probably some holdover dem bureaucrat in NM gubmint.
Of course they don’t. They agreed to send us illiterate, undeducated workers. They didn’t agree to trade energy like it was the commodity WE act like it is, free trader.
Wow...I had no idea about the NG issues there..

I figure most people don’t. Had I read further down the thread rather than responding to your article right away I’d have seen that many people put it better than I could have / did! I’d have saved you another click on this thread.
Thanks for posting that - I didn’t realize until I saw your article.
Show me a hospital that does not have emergency backup generators that kick in without more than a light bulb flicker.
I always thought the Mexican re-fried bean diet was essentially a way to produce a natural, exportable source of energy.
I gotta say with all the self congratulatory Texans on FR I’ve been having a bit of a chuckle about this. I do hope it warms up for y’all though and you get the lights back on.
Prayers for our friends in Texas subjected to environmental tyranny.
Not even close. Ever seen the numbers on how much electricity we buy from Mexico per year?
Oh. . .good point. Very good point.
Heck, Mexico can't sell power to Texas but they have no problem abetting illegal aliens storming into Texas.
“Indian Giver” now supplanted by “Mexican Giver”.
Rolling blackouts are a problem? Try being off for 2 or 3 days after an ice storm. I would have welcomed rolling blackouts last week.
Do you all sell oranges to individuals? I mean if I wanted a a half a bushel of oranges would you pack and ship them to me?

NM Gas Co. was blaming it on Texas and the power outages, I really don’t know. They showed 3 compressor stations in the panhandle of Texas.
I was told by another poster that they went to electric because of emissions, once again I really don’t know.
Las Cruces, NM is powered by El Paso Electric, I think, and they have had power outages. We have PNM and it hasn’t even flickered, my MIL has Columbus Electric and her power did go out for about an hour.
I know we have at least one compressor station left west of town and one east of town and we only live about 10 miles from the main natural gas line to California.
It would sure seem foolhardy to run a compressor station on electric without backup generator fired on gas. Not saying compressors running on electricity are impossible, but unlikely. Compressor gas power would have a lot less emissions than does a gas fired power plant or cogen.
With more gas fired generation the gas shortage could be generation sucking up the gas during this cold snap.
We are in a flood of NG in East Texas and NW Lousiana, but the pipelines go north and northeast.
Little doubt all of this blackout/gasout can be pointed to the stupid state and national dems and nobama.
You guys in NM did the right thing electing Pubbie Gov. Only way you could have done worse than richardson was to have elected jimmah carter.
I thought about this awhile and I think it could definitely be both electric and gas powered compressors. It would probably hinge on when they were built. I imagine the older stations could have been grandfathered in with their gas power while any new ones could be forced to go to electric.
This is basically what happened to us in a business that we were active in.
LOL, Jimmah, I would have moved. I just stay impressed with Susana.
