Rasmussen : Daily Presidential Poll, down to -17
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Rasmussen

Posted on 02/05/2011 8:09:41 AM PST by sunmars

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -17 (see trends).

The president’s Approval Index ratings have fallen nine points since Monday as the crisis in Egypt unfolds. Most of the decline comes from a fall in the number who Strongly Approve of the president’s performance (30% on Monday, 23% now). However, for the first time since mid-December, the number who Strongly Disapprove has moved back over the 40% mark for five straight days. The Strongly Disapprove total had been above 40% for most of 2010 but fell to the high-30s after the president and Senate Republicans reached a deal to extend the Bush Administration tax cuts.

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove.

Rasmussen : Daily Presidential Poll, down to -17

When all the spin is said and done, they still cannot change the definition of "Incompetent buffoon"...

Or "Closet illegal islamicist"...

Or "America-hating racist"...

Interesting that this rise over the last 5 days shows his base eroding. The strong disprove is still relatively low compared to last year when it hovered around 43% or so. It is 40% now. The strongly approve has collapsed in the past 10 days from 30% down to 23%. I would be surprised to see his base reacting this way to the Eqypt situation. Maybe they are realizing the economy still sucks.

This is good news, and bad news.

The bad news is that it seems the White House has some ability to artificially raise his approvals ratings for short periods of time. How, I haven't quite figured out. But, I wouldn't be at all surprised that it's some kind of Journolist-II, executed with the coordination of the WH - delivering the right kinds of stories, at just the right time and in the right quantity.

The good news it seems, is that they can only keep this up for very short periods of time.

The worse news is that they might be able to do something similar in the week(s) leading up to election day - you know, kind of like they did last election day.

According to this poll, it seems that Obama is in worse shape than when his party was rejected by historic margins.

Today:

Index = -17
Approve = 46%
Disapprove = 53%

11/2/2010 (Election Day):

Index = -15
Approve = 48%
Disapprove = 51%

When it gets down to a 10% approval rating, perhaps Americans will bestir themselves from off their sofas and mass in front of the White House, shoutiing, “Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Barack Obama’s got to GO!”

It’s so great to see citizens of other nations rise up against their oppressive governments. Wonder how BO and his Socialists and the state-run media would like it if the boot were on the other foot?

This poll is SO difficult to figure out. Is the polling process flawed or are Americans so fickle?

This is a monster who probably is not constitutionally qualified to hold the office he occupies, who was elected in part with money laundered from the Middle East, who has said Americans are too well fed, too well medicated, too warm in winter and too cool in summer, and yet he and his elitist wife enjoy to excess all those sumptuous pleasures he seeks to deny to the average run of citizen.

He hates this country so much he has traveled the world insulting us.

He has appointed judges and officials who are manifestly unqualified for office and reflect his own misanthropic views of America.

Why on EARTH would ANYONE continue to support a monster who deserves impeachment more than any other President who preceded him?

While unemployment is really at 16%...

The government manufactures their numbers. Where would that poll number be of the President if every news outlet posted the real unemployment numbers..Canada (64,000 mol) had more new jobs last than the US (34,000 mol)--They have 30 mil people we have over 300 mil.[numbers approximate].

But government says a move down in unemployment numbers like medals should be given out. Clinton even told Batiromo at Davo last week...the numbers were probably higher than reported and at this rate we would not see any growth for up to 6 years..taking into effect as well population growth. And, Clinton says, there is a lot of money in American Banks and American corporations....

Premium is close to that in some areas, such as the FL Turnpike, now.

Obama has done nothing of any value.

Contrast him today from when he first took office. He really truly though he was King of the World in a very real way.

“I’m going to fly over to Europe and tell them how they’re expected to act.”

“I’m going to fly over to the ME and tell them there is a new Sheriff in town!”

“Who needs congress or a Constitution!? I’ll do whatever I want dammit! Get out of my way.”

Then, he turns out to be a man-child idiot and buffoon who seem to be more interested in partying than anything else.

The guy leave a vacuum of American leadership and everything falls into chaos.

Great choice Dems and Libs! You guys really know how to pick talented, qualified, leadership. lol

This poll is SO difficult to figure out. Is the polling process flawed or are Americans so fickle?

Could be the Bradley/Wilder effect.

From Wikipedia:

The Bradley effect, less commonly called the Wilder effect, is a theory proposed to explain observed discrepancies between voter opinion polls and election outcomes in some US government elections where a white candidate and a non-white candidate run against each other.

Instead of ascribing the results to flawed methodology on the part of the pollster, the theory proposes that some voters tend to tell pollsters that they are undecided or likely to vote for a black candidate, and yet, on election day, vote for the white opponent. It was named after Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, an African-American who lost the 1982 California governor's race despite being ahead in voter polls going into the elections.

The Bradley effect theorizes that the inaccurate polls were skewed by the phenomenon of social desirability bias. Specifically, some white voters give inaccurate polling responses for fear that, by stating their true preference, they will open themselves to criticism of racial motivation. Members of the public may feel under pressure to provide an answer that is deemed to be more publicly acceptable, or 'politically correct'. The reluctance to give accurate polling answers has sometimes extended to post-election exit polls as well. The race of the pollster conducting the interview may factor in to voters' answers.

‘In other news, 23% of Americans are BEYOND STUPID.’

Consider the significance. Around half of those voters who strongly approve are black.

Meaning that only around 13-14% of the remaining non-black population strongly approves of Dear Leader -- while over 60% disapprove.

Despite the assurances of all the pundits, it's hard to believe that such a man can possibly be re-elected.

“Why on EARTH would ANYONE continue to support a monster who deserves impeachment more than any other President who preceded him?”

Because they are expecting him to take from others to provide for their sorry selves. Because they are jealous and bitter and want to see their betters destroyed. Because they hate everything good, decent, productive and normal and want to see the good, decent, normal and productive brought down. Because they are miserable, nasty, hateful and empty and Obama is the expression of their ugly souls.

Down it goes day by day.

I'm a little concerned that the strongly disapproved number hasn't gotten much above 40 to 41%. The strongly approve number is softer and fluctuates between the low 20's and about 30%, but strongly disapproves is what will boot Obozo out in 2012.

I thought this would have been a saving grace for keeping that Keynesian Kenyan out of the White House in 2008 when the polls were showing McNutjob far behind. I’m not sure that really applies anymore.

But who knows. Politics is strange.

I think the real percentage of BEYOND STUPID Americans is higher than 23%, but 23% is certainly depressing enough.

The only thing I can figure out is that some of those hard core liberals are unhappy with Obama for not demanding the immediate removal of Mubarak.

You're probably right. Most of the movement in this particular index has always been on the "approval" side -- it goes up, it goes down, while the "disapproval" remains relatively steady.

It's the moonbats who are evidently out of sorts for his not having shot Mubarak out of the saddle...as well as Gitmo still being open, troops still in Afghanistan, and the failure to seize the banks and insurance companies and declare a socialist state.

Yep, and the other half is Muslims and Jews.
