Majority in U.S. and EU see immigrants as a problem
The Transatlantic Trends survey is sponsored by several institutions in the United States and Europe. Most Europeans and Americans believe that immigration is a problem rather than an advantage for their respective countries, according to a survey published Thursday by a group of foundations. The survey shows that citizens whose personal situation worsened due to the economic crisis in the past two years believe that immigrants are to blame for it. 65% of Britons believe that immigrants are a problem, followed by Spanish (53%) and Americans (52%), and then by French (42%), German and Dutch (39%). By contrast, only one in four Canadians (27%) holds this view, according to the survey, conducted in 2010 in eight countries. Also, a majority (73%) of Americans believe that the management of immigration by the government is wrong, a percentage similar to the UK or Spain. Despite the negative view of immigrants, Americans are divided on whether to legalize them. 47% is against it, 45% in favor.
In Europe, 50% of Germans are in favor of giving them a legal status, but most British, Italian and Spanish want illegal immigrants leave the country. A majority of Americans think that Hispanics (the largest minority) are well integrated in their society, contrary to what Europeans think of Muslims.

SEDENA calls for increase in its Air Force
The Mexican Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) has requested the purchase of five Hercules H version aircraft. The Secretary of the Navy (Marines) also intends to acquire 6 cargo and transport aircraft plus 6 transport helicopters. The combined cost would be 9,888,000 pesos (US $821753.92). The requests are due to the increased criminal violence in the country, and a projected increase in military members to 12,918 this year and up to 19,252 in 2012.. The Hercules will be used for cargo, soldiers, paratroopers and medical evacuations, holding 70 patients and 2 medics.

Armed Band of car thieves arrested
(Tijuana, Baja California) State and municipal police were able to arrest members of a gang which has been stealing cars and robbing businesses in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito. Police observed a vehicle matching a look out just received by radio, and a chase ensued ending with the vehicle crashing into a business. On arrest, the drivers identified another vehicle, which was also caught. In the second vehicle were found 164,700 rounds of Ak 47 ammunition. Those arrested confessed to also robbing shops. One driver identified his girlfriend accomplice, but police failed to locate her.

Italian rifles delivered to Reynosa Police
(Reynosa, Tamaulipas) Officers of the Reynosa Municipal police have been armed with Beretta .223 caliber rifles. More than 50 rifles were under strict security. In Matamoros, officers are armed with AR 15 rifles and Beretta 9mm pistols. (Note: these 2 cities have incredible levels of cartel violence, and police have been undergunned for some time, and even with these added rifles, still are).

Crystal Meth Seized from Bus
(Uriangato) Mexican Army authorities stopped a passenger bus at a checkpoint and seized 25 kilos (55 lbs) of crystal methamphetamine. The bus was enroute to Reynosa. The driver and his assistant were both arrested.

Twenty-nine Soldiers Wounded by IED Attack
(Arauca, Colombia) Twenty nine soldiers have been wounded by a car bomb which exploded while they were preparing to defuse a separate car bomb left by FARC guerillas. Most of the soldiers have abdominal or hearing trauma, and only one needed surgery for eye injuries, but will survive. The military has defused other bombs in the area this week. (Note: secondary IED’s to target responders is a standard tactic of terrorists everywhere.)

The National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers (NAFBPO) is a national, non-profit, public interest organization of concerned citizens. Our ranks include officers who spent their careers on the Canadian and Mexican borders, in Florida, on the Gulf Coast, in Puerto Rico, and in foreign lands enduring discomfort and danger as they worked to protect and serve our nation. Many of us went on to high positions in the Border Patrol or its parent organization, the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Now, though we are retired we recall our oath of office and we share a common bond and heritage with our brothers and sisters who still serve our country as members of the Department of Homeland Security. With that oath and bond in mind, we submit to you A Proposal for Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement and Reform.
We ask that you take the time to read it and as you do, please remember that our credo is and always will be: "If we didn't live it, if we don't know it, if we can't prove it, we won't say it".

Introduction
Illegal immigration and how to deal with it is a grave problem confronting this nation. It generates highly-charged, emotional responses that often destroy any attempts to create rational solutions. For decades, through the tenure of many administrations both Republican and Democrat, the United States has neglected to properly address immigration issues. It has only made token efforts to control illegal immigration. We are now paying the price for that neglect.
People from around the world want to come to this country to reside but we cannot uncritically open our borders to the masses of the world. What we must do, then, is create immigration policies that address, first, national needs and well-being, and second, honor our history as a nation of immigrants.
We are surrounded by a world in chaos and it is impacting the everyday lives of our citizens. A war on terrorism, rampant drug and alien smuggling, sexual slave trading, criminal gangs, fraud of many sorts: all have roots in illegal immigration and all are tearing at the fabric of our society and eroding our sovereignty.
Americans are worried about our national security, about our jobs, about crime in our communities, about overcrowding in our schools, about emergency room chaos in our hospitals, about increases in our taxes, all of which can be attributed in some degree to illegal immigration. We should first address the concerns of our own people before expending time and treasure on resolving other nations’ problems with our immigration policies.
Recognizing that past arbitrary, fragmented efforts to end illegal immigration have not succeeded, NAFBPO has drawn upon its body of collective experience to compose an outline of an overall, coherent solution.

Violent, nonselfsupporting, criminal, or separatist immigrants are a problem. Immigrants who come in following the rules, work hard, pay their own way, learn the language, and apply for citizenship are an asset.

Problem is, the good ones are far outnumbered by the bad ones. Remember, half of the ‘legal’ ones on visas overstay and become ‘illegal’.
They are not really A problem. They are THE problem. If the Democrats didn’t have so many socialism-loving “immigrants” voting for them, the country wouldn’t be in the mess it’s in. If only Americans had voted in our recent elections, the DemocRATS would be history by now.

I don’t see any problem with immigrants. We need immigrants.
I see a problem with illegal invaders and illegal aliens sneaking across our borders and a problem with the last and current administration in blocking them, and in the failure of elected officials to step up to the plate and oppose them and the fawning toleration for these people extended by too many religious groups in the U.S., and the shameless encouragement of and employment of these invaders by too many American businesses.

We need a lot more wealthy immigrants who will invest in our country. Also highly educated scientists, medical workers and technicians would be welcomed. We don’t need more taxi drivers.

In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest level in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.
Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 310 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 130 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the world’s third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.977% (2010 estimate), principally due to immigration.

It’s not immigration that is the problem — it’s the lack of quality control of the many immigrants that we have let in ever since the Johnson years that has been the problem.
Too many have become a burden to society, have no intention to integrate, have contributed little or nothing and some have become a danger to our national security.
Agreed. We need less immigration and a merit based system vice the current kinship system we have now. In the midst of this economic downturn, we are bringing in over 100,000 legal foreign workers a month. With 25 million Americans looking for fulltime employment and 15 million considered unemployed, do we need more workers, most of whom are unskilled and uneducated?

Unfortunately, you may get an educated person, but what happens is that as soon as he/she gets ‘in’ the rest of the uneducated and decrepit family follows through sponsorship. We really don’t need them at all. Melting pot is a misnomer; our immigration laws are being used to overcrowd this country with far too many people yearning to become public asset users instead of contributors.
McConnell, like the crybaby Boehner, should have been flushed from positions of power after the 2010 elections.
They are biologically challenged - no guts, no backbone, no gonads and no brains.

This has been addressed. YES, immigrants are also a problem. There is NO vetting. Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and others PICK the people to send here. The state dept. pushes for MORE muslims from terrorist states. Half of LEGAL visa holders become overstays and illegal aliens.
The entire immigration NON policy is screwy and corrupt.
The people in our streets demanding AMNESTY for illegal aliens are largely LEGAL immigrants.
Immigrants in controlled numbers are fine and dandy. Illegal aliens are the problem. Along with chain migration and the ridiculous, unconstitutional BS called ‘anchor babies’
