What you had to say is only too true. PBS is now even rehabilitating Nancy Reagan’s image - saying she was one of the most influential first ladies ever.

These are the same folks who mocked everything Reagan did and took mean shots at Nancy all the time, right? The same people who claimed he had Alzheimers’ while he was in office.

Suddenly, they are trying to pretend that they have a respect and fondness for him? Whassupwidat?

Reagan was a Republican - isn’t it ok for current Republicans to aspire to be Reaganesque?

Think back to the clown show that was the 2008 Republican presidential field, and the sorts of claims they kept making on being "Reaganesque."

There wasn't anything Reaganesque about them, of course ... they were just invoking his name like it was some sort of magic word.

Mitchell may be a stopped clock, but this is one of those times when she was right on the money.

The left would have you believe Reagan was a dummy who just got lucky. The economy tanked under him, they assert, but it luckily got better. The Soviets collapsed because of Gorby, Reagan just was lucky to be there at the time. The Iranians released the hostages, it was just lucky they did it at his inauguration. Nuclear war happened in 1985 thanks to his clueless and mean spirited rhetoric, he just got lucky that nobody noticed it. Stuff like that.

It's entirely consistent, then, given that this is how they view Reagan, that they would see much of the same quality in Obama. Basically a dumb guy who got lucky. The problem is Obama really is clueless (witness losing a 30 year ally in Eqypt in about a week) while Reagan was not (witness bringing a 30 year threat in the Soviet Union to an end). No comparison.

At least Noonan slapped her back. Haven't heard much I've liked from her for a while, but at least she didn't let that absurdity pass.

In his first inaugural address on January 20, 1981, which Reagan himself wrote, he addressed the country's economic malaise arguing: "In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem."

He was the Tea Party before the Tea Party. Liberals are lucky he's dead, or he'd still be eating their lunch.
