$18 million won't be enough. For her next act, Zsa Zsa the Huff will marry Ted Turner. They have so much in common now: both were bought out by AOL.

AOL bought Huffington for their reach

That's a lot of reach, but for $300,000,000 cash, the best AOL's investors can hope for is a reach-around.

They didn't do it for financial reasons.

They did it to maximize their audience. They now have an even bigger group of people to push Obama/leftist crap.

I agree, it's a terrible investment.

Bingo. AOL won’t lose money on the deal because Barry will pay them back GE style. Who still has AOL? Key demographics for 2012. Suburban soccer moms, etc. Now the dims have a new pipeline to push their propaganda into those homes.

That just makes no sense to me at all. It's not like the HuffPo was out there touting gun rights and smaller government. It's like buying the left field wall at Fenway Park because you want to paint it green.

Their message will stay basically the same. Their audience will stay basically the same.

The only real outcome I see is Arianna gets very richer and AOL's investors take a bath (which is more than you can say about the average HuffPo reader on a daily basis.)

Huffington, who switched from being a conservative commentator to a “liberal/progressive” writer in the ‘90s ....

Arianna Huffington has no political convictions. She will support any political position just as long as she thinks that she can make money by doing so.

For a normal business purchase, you might value at three times yearly net. That would imply HuffPo has a $100 million in yearly revenue. I don’t think so.

Have you looked at Huffington's reach?

AOL wanted that audience... AOL is already seeing people leave as result of this purchase. Matt Welch is leaving Politics Daily for the Daily Caller... that is the only "conservative" gone.

Huffington is bringing their reach as well as their editorial style... not good for conservatives.

I love it when liberals waste $315 million of their own money! :)

In a year or so AOL will be filing for bankruptcy. Will anyone remember this purchase?

Surprised you were still with them.........

They've been hard left since the beginning......

I recall Ted Turner...telling them to cancel some e-mail to their members that was Conservative in nature.

Have you looked at Huffington's reach?

Yes, it's very nice. 1% of internet users globally visit HuffPo. It's impressive. About half that of sites like IMDB.com or Craigslist.

Do you think AOL will now move the editorial content of HuffPo to the left? Where can they go? Will they be more fawning of Obama now? More for the expansion of government?

Again, how does changing the owner from one liberal to another liberal alter the message of the website or the audience for the message?

Being the Liberal market is over saturated and there a void in the Conservative market, from a pure business standpoint wouldn’t it make more sense to target the conservative market?

Leftists are much easier to manipulate into buying things with advertising. If the business model includes advertising then going after leftists can make sense. The job of advertising is to make people unhappy with what they have. Conservatives are happy people, are thankful for what they already have, and don't get caught up in keeping up with the Joneses. Leftists are envious unhappy people and are putty in advertisers hands. That said, leftists make for terrible customers, returning things after they've been used, not paying their bills, zero loyalty, constant complaining, not reading the directions and needing hand holding. Many a business has gone bankrupt from attracting too many leftist customers.

You are confused...

Huffington is dictating editorial policy now. They have have already pushed out Matt Lewis.
