A Senate investigation has found that the November 2009 Fort Hood massacre was predictable and avoidable, something that was obvious to anyone except members of the Obama administration. Worse, the White House still refuses to admit that a jihadist terror attack took place on the Army base.
The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee recently concluded a year-long look into the circumstances of the domestic terror incident that took 14 lives. The committee report concluded that the Department of Defense and the FBI “collectively had sufficient information to have detected [Major Nidal] Hasan’s radicalization to violent Islamist extremism but failed both to understand and to act on it.”
The systemic failures are alarming. Hasan openly discussed justifications for suicide bombings with other officers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and gave a briefing on Islam which reflected his extremist views. He questioned whether his oath to the Constitution had greater weight than his fealty to Islam. When some of his fellow officers reported his dangerous views, correctly describing him as a “ticking time bomb,” they were told that having Hasan around was beneficial because he provided first-hand insights into the worldview of violent Islamists. By this twisted reasoning, every unit deploying to Afghanistan should reserve a billet for a jihadist-in-training.
The FBI detected that Hasan was communicating with Anwar al-Awlaki, the senior al Qaeda operative currently being hunted in Yemen. Hasan sent 18 emails over six months between December 2008 and June 2009, asking the radical cleric things like when jihad is legitimate...

I believe you’re right being that Gen. Casey said right after this jihadi terrorist attack that diversity is more important to our military. Words still fail me.

I heard a interview right after that happened. The guy said this military is more PC now a days than not. The leadership is full of this. He said it is now the norm. Chilling isn’t it?
This should be front and center. Much more so than the Tucson incident. It’s a disgrace the way they buried this. Investigations are warranted ASAP.
Absolutely. Will they pin the blame on the lower-level officers? Will they put the blame where it belongs? On the top man, the commander in chief? (the political correctness started with Bush)
This absolutely should be front and center but it won’t be. The PC thing has been going on for quite awhile in the military and gotten worse with Hussein Obama in office.
Any change in policy must come from the top down and 0 has Gates, the branch Secretaries and Mullen carrying out his wishes. It’s very sad.
The local commanders will be the fall guys even though they were following orders. I believe the PC started long before Bush but it has gotten progressively worse.

Actually there was an even worse quote...
“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,” Casey said.
He basically said that having no (or is it just fewer) Muslims in the military would be worse than the slaughter of all those innocent people by a follower of the Religion of Peace. Simply amazing

Folks didn’t push the issue about Hassan, because they were scared for their own possibility of advancement. THAT’S what political correctness has done to the military.
You’re exactly right. It’s the same old thing, don’t make waves except this is costing lives.

Remember Clinton. Yeah, he perjured himself but it was just about sex. Everybody does it. Depends upon what the meaning of is is?
Actually, PC goes back to the Frankfurt School in Germany in 1923. And it all had to do with why the nirvanic idea of communism wasn’t catching on with the people.
Edmund Burke said something to the effect of - For political correctness to triumph only requires for sensible people to do nothing.

I don’t blame the military.
It always comes down to the politicians.
Yeah, Senator Susan Collins berated the brass for promoting Hasan, but these same politicians made the PC rules forcing the military to advance minorities.
Of course, you’ll never get a politician to admit that their legislation kills. They will always find a scapegoat.
