The Constitution-shredding "PATRIOT" Act, with its roving wiretaps and secret searches sounded good under Bush only because at the time, 'We The People' were not considered "terrorists". However, under Obama's DHS, returning war veterans, pro-lifers, pro-Constitutionalists, pro-Second Amendment and freedom loving Americans everywhere are under assault as "domestic extremists" and treated like terrorists prone to surveillance by our own government.

Big Sis already wanting to surveil suspected 'lone wolves', which it only suspects may harbor anti-government sentiment. Minority Report.

This bill will be back. The real story here might be that the new Republican leadership, like Republican leadership in the past, still doesn’t know how to use its majority status.

Excellent point. I couldn't agree more.

After reading about this last night and this morning, I can confidently state that this is only a temporary setback for the police state. They have plenty of support for extending this unconstitutional and unamerican piece of garbage extended, and they will.

Maybe we could do away with the TSA act as well while we’re at it. It too is anti-”PATRIOT”.

This piss poor anti-freedom measure needs to fry. It doesn’t keep us safe and it enables jackbooted government thugs.

I agree, time to end the Patriot Act. Obama is likely using it t spy on US citizens who are his political opponents.

I am glad its defeated.

Get rid of it, in the dumper!!!

Sorry I am late on this subject. Sadly this was my fear. ‘TARP’ Boehner does not seem competent. As crazy as Pelosi sounded, she always knew when she had the votes, unlike this guy. I always said it was a mistake to keep him. I hope things get better, a bad start.

Right you are. Lets home the morons in Congress kill this damn bill. Its a threat to the security of all Americans and sets the stage for government suppression of any form of legitimate political dissent.

Especially chilling is Fascist Napolitano’s concern with “domestic” Terrorist groups. By refusal - ONCE AGAIN - to identify ISLAM as the enemy, AND her previous notorious statements about veterans, pro-Second Amendment supporters, anti-abortionists,anti-globalists, etc as domestic terror threats, we should be concerned.

EVERY YEAR, the Federal Government has been pouring BILLIONS of dollars into the funding of hardened security centers in every County in the Union. One can only wonder what the hell they are planning? Each one of these could be federalized to provide a wedge by Obama and his security forces to crush any legitimate opposition to his rule.

These measures are way and above any necessary to provide defense against the few Islamists while failing to address the continued threat of these people infiltrating every level of government and thrusting across our Southern Borders.

How stupid have Americans become?

“But despite the misstep, Republicans blamed Democrats for the defeat.”

Right out of the donk/lib playbook. Make a mistake,,,blame someone else.

All of this crap sounded good at the time when adults were in charge: DHS, TSA, Patriot Act, etc.

My fondest hope is to see this trifecta completely abolished. They are all an anathema to freedom, period.
