Wow.

Yeah, it's easy to dismiss CPAC as a libertarian lovefest or RINO ranch, but Palin finished behind even Bachmann.

That's not good when you consider how similar their stands on issues are and how popular both are with tea partiers.

It makes one wonder if the activists there think Sarah's become unelectable.

Please, conservatives, take some time to read the speeches and writings of Washington, the Adamses, Jefferson, Madison, and all the other leaders of the First American Revolution. Read your Declaration of Independence and Federalist Papers.

Think about where our nation stands today--betrayed by its leaders, its principles of liberty undermined and denied both at home and abroad. The liberty of future generations, perhaps, relying on the decision you make about your choice of a candidate to protect the Constitution and to roll back decades of erosion of her principles.

Then pray that Divine Providence once again shows you a leader of uncompromising character, deep and abiding understanding of the ideas of liberty, as well as an understanding of the counterfeit ideas which do battle against it--whether those ideas come from ages-old religious roots or from Marx, Lenin and Mao. Couple those understandings of America's founding principles with an ability to so articulate those ideas that none can stand against that leader without looking foolish and/or vain. Merely calling to mind Ronald Reagan's defense of America's founding ideas is not sufficient, although it may be admirable. The candidate's understanding must be authentic because of personal study and assimilation.

Then, and only then, can we hope to select a candidate who can win the hearts and minds of the citizenry and lead the Republic back to its foundations in liberty.

That candidate, when the candidate immerges, will stand head and shoulders above the current field, as constituted today. It will not be by reason of popularity, as popularity is measured in the media. Nor will it be by fame or fortune. It will be because, as in 1776 and 1787, that person can so articulate the essential ideas of liberty that even those who have never heard them, will recognize that their grandchildren's future depends on the leadership of that person.

A reading of the writings of the first 50 years of American history following 1787 will reveal that such was the feeling of citizens who looked to Washington for leadership in that time of great crisis for the nation.

I think Sarah is more influential being an advocate rather than a candidate (but, if she is the nominee, I will support her to the max!).

It is not about the "Dominance" (strange word choice, right?)
it is about WHO comprises CPAC.
Get with the program, Behind Liberal Lines.
CPAC [ = Obama Republicans] supports the Islamic invasion, CAIR, Mitt Romney and antiSemitism.

CPAC/ACU/CAIR is run by Al Cardenas/David Keene
involved in Palin-bashing and Romney-care polishing.

""Palin-bashing CPAC/ACU Chair donated $2,000 to Arlen Specter, endorsed Romney""

""Exclusive: Conservative group offers support for $2M"

""Palin rebuffs CPAC, Keene""

"Washington Insider David Keene Disses Governor Palin, Claims to Speak for Grassroots
"Keene's ACU also puts on the annual CPAC conference in Washington.

.In the last three years CPAC has devolved into nothing more than
an annual love fest for the most established of establishment
Republicans, Mitt Romney. It should come as no surprise that David
Keene supported Mitt Romney in 2008. "

"David Keene Endorses Romney"

"ACU President David Keene Endorses Romney
Long courted by Romney, Keene agreed to formalize his endorsement of
the former governor during a face to face meeting in Florida on
Tuesday, according to knowledgeable sources."

"David A. Keene (born May 20, 1945) is the current chairman of the American
Conservative Union, a position which he has held since 1984. Additionally, he is the
managing associate at the Carmen Group Lobbying, a lobbying firm based in
Washington, D.C. In December 2007, Keene endorsed Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. "

"(at CPAC 2010, the) message there was that "real conservatives" don't support the war
on terror because it is a creation of the "Israeli lobby" - which coalesces with the left-
wing's new anti-Semitism against neoconservatives. Karen Kwiatkowski is a darling of
both the leftist Huffington Post and the anti-Semitic paleocon site Antiwar.com.

…is a board member of the ACU, and from the looks of CPAC's
covered topics and omission of discussion of jihad, it looks as if he exerts enormous
influence over David Keene, the ACU's nominal leader. Norquist and his ally Suhail
Khan seem to be in charge at CPAC - no CPAC event goes on that doesn't reflect their perspective. ….
Grover Norquist's troubling ties to Islamic supremacists and jihadists have been known
for years. He and his Palestinian wife, Samah Alrayyes, who was director of
communications for his Islamic Free Market Institute until they married in 2005, are very
active in "Muslim outreach." …..
It was Norquist who ushered these silver-tongued jihadists into the Oval Office after the
worst attack ever on American soil. ….
Grover Norquist was on the jihad payroll before and after the carnage and death of
September 11….
Norquist also introduced Nihad Awad, cofounder and executive director of the Council
on American-Islamic Relations, to President Bush. ….
It is no surprise that CPAC 2010, like CPAC 2009, had nothing addressing the war we
are actually engaged in. This is due to the influence of Norquist, Keene, and Suhail Khan,
a CPAC board member. According to Gaffney, Khan "has repeatedly been a featured
speaker at MSA, ISNA and CAIR events" - that is, Muslim Students Association, Islamic
Society of North America, and Council on American-Islamic Relations, three groups
linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, the international Islamic organization dedicated to
establishing the rule of Islamic law and the subjugation of infidels worldwide."

CPAC's Straw Poll and the eventual GOP nominee aren't necessary inline with each other........ Take a look at the last few years of Straw polls here.

This is part of an interview with Pam Geller of Atlas Shrugged. It is about last year's C-PAC

Nothing was said about the Islamic doctrine that shows that jihadists would be waging war against the U.S. even if we did end all actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. The panel agreed with Obama, that Muslims are angry with us because of our actions, and will stop being angry with us if we change our foreign policy. This view is naïve and reflects ignorance of Islamic doctrine. And consider this: if Ron Paul were as anti-Islam as he is anti-Israel, he would not have been in CPAC, and his perspective would not have been represented. Instead of coming together on our basic core values and circling the wagons on the fundamentals — national security, small government, low taxes, and the freedom of speech — the CPAC leadership had a circus of the fringe.

You sound awfully CONCERNED. I'm not worried about any polls. The only poll that matters when we get to vote.

Okay, if you think Ron Paul’s going to be the nominee next year and Sarah Palin’s going to come in ninth, you’re high. If you think Ron’s going to beat Mitt Romney (no matter where Mitt ends up in the standings), you’re higher than is physically healthy for you.

Um, Palin didn’t attend. Again. Why? Because CPAC is really RINOPAC. So of course she lost their worthless straw poll.

Not even a good try, Paulbots and Mittbots...

Any straw vote in which Gary Johnson out-polls Huck and Palin doesn't have a lot of credibility.

(Palin loses to nearly everybody)

Yeah, except for all those she beat. Not to mention, she didn't even go to CPAC, and has never wavered on her fastidious avoidence of these twerps.

They chose Ron Paul.

Again.

'Nuff said. We'll see how she does in the "poll" that counts.

The torch like Pubs, are unelectable. Ron Paul and his cohorts packed the Hall like they did last time out. A great choice for him would be if a Pub won, to accept the SEC of Treasury post! What a hoot that would be! It appears that the public will not elect a lightning rod. Too bad but those are the facts. Daniels could sweep in if he had a VP choice with heft like Thune, even Mitt, Christie , or even Newt or Paws. They will need a national ticket this time to cut down on the Blue State advantage that the Bamster has.

"Yeah, it's easy to dismiss CPAC as a libertarian lovefest"

It's easy to do because it's true. GOProud and Ron Paul's dominance is proof of that. Grover Norquist has been actively pushing out 3-legged stool Republicans for years now. He simply doesn't want social conservatives or "promote freedom abroad" neocons in the party.

I’m beginning to wonder who the hell is represented in CPAC.

My guess is only fringe freaks - Ron Paul does have NO CHANCE of getting elected + he is a foreign policy idiot.

Romney’s time came and WENT. If he couldn’t beat a buffon like McLame, what the heck makes people think he can beat the slickster Obama? My guess is the establishment guys are pushing Romney.

What is even FREAKIER than Romney is “Jeb” Bush’s position in the rankings.

NO MORE BUSH NOT NOW NOT EVER!! COMPRENDE?
