The Collapse of Arab Civilization?
American Thinker ^ | February 13, 2011 | Michael Fraley

Posted on 02/13/2011 8:35:02 AM PST by kingattax

Five years ago, Lt. Col James G. Lacey published the article "The Impending Collapse of Arab Civilization" in The Naval Institute: Proceedings." He disputed the conclusions of two books which have particularly influenced recent foreign policy and grand strategy: The Crisis of Islam: Holy War and Unholy Terror, by Bernard Lewis, and The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order by Samuel P. Huntington.

In his article, he stated:

A more accurate understanding of events leads to the conclusion that Arab, not Muslim, civilization is in a state of collapse, and it just happens that most Arabs are Muslims. In this regard, the fall of the Western Roman Empire was a collapse of Western Europe and not a crisis of Christianity.

His thesis was that while Islam itself continues to grow and thrive around the world (and indeed, is continuing to make swift inroads into Western states), it has been specifically in the Arab world where one has seen the turmoil of civilization in decay.

Allah, as described in the Koran and the Hadith has invested himself in Mecca and Medina. If he exists, those two cities holy to Islam cannot be destroyed. Leveling them will topple the religion, unlike the God of the Bible who is not invested in places, but in people.

Not to be contentious (really), but there is no known principle which proves that Allah cannot exist without Mecca and Medina. Such speculation may be true...or it may not. But there is no way of knowing.

One additional point.

If Allah is not just some mythical moon god but one manifestation of a multifaceted spiritual being (like a fallen angel--Shemyaza/Semyaza/Semjaaza for example), we have no idea how the being using the name/pseudonym of Allah might behave or what laws he is subject to (except, of course, for what we read in Holy Scripture--and there is much anecdotal evidence to support that).

BTW, based on what we see of the behavior and personality of this Islamic Allah, there is (from a Judeo/Christian POV at least) little doubt that he is indeed not just one of the fallen angels, but one of their leaders.

Excellent and why, if you truly love American-style liberty, we must end the Green tyranny on energy and develop nuclear, gas, coal and oil resources domestically.

Cheap energy not only grows America, it stifles radical Islam.

You wrote in response to my claim of Rome being sacked in 410 AD "for the first time in it's long history" that Rome was sacked by the Gauls in 387 BC.

Good catch! I'd forgotten about that. Say, they had a pretty good 797 year run going there!

Washington DC was sacked by the British in 1814. Somehow I don' tthink we'll beat the Roman's 797 year record, that would mean we make it to 2612 without someone taking Washington.

There are days I wonder if we'll make it 7 months!

Zero was discovered by the Hindus (I’m a moderate mathematical Platonist, so, discovered, not invented), put that together with Diophantus’ work (for which Diophantine equations are named) and algebra is but a slight advance, which, incidentally was made by a Persian, not an Arab.

Likely it was “The Closed Circle: An Interpretation of the Arabs” By David Pryce-Jones.

Absolutely the best work I have read to understand that culture.

Beautiful post.

In addition, I have read that more and more, people in the ME are not identifying as “Arab” but as Egyptian, Lebanese, and Syrian, emphatically disclaiming their ethnicity as Arabs.

There is a case to be made about Algebra originating in the Arab world, but it is also worth noting that it was from a period before Islam formally rejected rational thought.

Most of algebra, as well as the "arabic" number system, came from Indian civilization, as well as Babylonian and Greek civilization. While there were Arab contributions, most of it was in the early days of Islam, while the culture was still a hybrid of Islam and the earlier civilizations.

Here is a perspective rarely considered, by a man rarely read:

http://spenglercrashcourse.blogspot.com/2009/12/problems-of-arabian-culture-historic.html

and:

http://spenglercrashcourse.blogspot.com/2009/12/problems-of-arabian-culture-c_25.html

Spengler brings a unique perspective to the historical questions. He believed that history necessarily was organically structured, since we humans are, much as we like to see ourselves as rational Platonic beings.

These are just sample links. I recommend buying the book. ;^)

At this point, Washington is more likely to be sacked by the citizenry than any invader. =)

We think technology has progressed so quickly it's hard to keep up with.

A few years ago these people were building satellite dishes out of soda cans and now they hold the world in their hands.

Muslims want an empire, excuse me, Caliphate, back and wither it's Mogul, Arab, Persian, or Kurd, Muslims they'll eventually they'll keep wanting it until they get it and it is totally destroyed along with incredible numbers of Muslims............... They worship a false god that takes joy in his followers standing knee deep in blood while piling up severed heads. It doesn't make much difference what you call the "civilization" that struggles along bearing the moon god on it's shoulders and periodically going into a frenzy of slaughter against others and themselves.

Cutting thru the maze and calling it just what Islam is and about. Good post.

algernonpj sent a link today and got me back on it.

The Muslim Brotherhood say it's against al Qaida and all of the rioting countries say they are tired of corruption and want a new democracy like the rich countries we have seen on the Internet and our iPhones. (Egyptian demonstrators holding all those iPhones proves poverty is relative).

When the people succeed, SorosCo can install his people and take control. He could control a lot of Africa, et al.
