Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have been at each other’s throats for what seems like an eternity. He’s supposedly acting like a racist pig, and the allegations that he loses it every time their daughter, Nahla, is referred to as "black" aren’t helping any. Halle seems to have had enough and is firing back with some racism of her own, insisting that Nahla be referred to as black -- and even invoking the one-drop theory.
The theory states that anyone who has even a single drop of African blood in them is black. It dates back to slavery days, when it was used to enslave as many people as possible, and to segregate the rest.
Why in the world does Halle feel the need to drag out such a negative historical reference?
It’s one thing for Halle to identify as black, but by invoking the one-drop rule, she’s essentially ruling out half of her heritage: the white half. Now she’s doing the same thing to Nahla. Of course, as her parent, Halle has the right to decide how to raise her child, but why is it so important to her to deny the white half of Nahla’s lineage?
We all know that both of them are part black. No one is disputing that -- except, of course, Aubry. What I don’t understand is the need to declare, via a racist "rule," that they are both all black.
In her vehement opposition to having Nahla referred to as white, Halle is doing exactly what Aubry is doing. She’s every bit as racist as he is if she continues to denigrate the white blood in Nahla’s veins. Dragging up such a hateful -- and hate-filled -- rule makes it even worse. Halle could have simply stated that she identifies herself as black, and her daughter as well.
A thoughtful commentary on why that’s important to her would hold much more weight than these spears she’s throwing. I can only hope she’s throwing them to get at Aubry, and not because she actually believes in denying an entire half of her daughter’s life.
The Jim Crow laws said anyone with 1/8 Black blood was Black. Even the Nazis said only 1/4 or more Jewish Blood made you Jewish. So she is siding with the racist Democrats of the Old South. Nice, and of course all of this is probably Bush’s fault because he “hates Black people.”

If this woman wants the world to consider her baby “black,” she’s already done a pretty good job of it by hanging a name like “Nahla” on her.
My ex is of Greek and Armenian heritage and she was born in Alexandria, Egypt. My very white daughters are therefore African-American and they even carry a copy of their mother’s birth certificate for defense when racism labels get tossed around.

And the overwhelming majority of blacks have a ‘racist side’ yet many on the right insist on ignoring it.
Yeah, she is cute. The curse of fame is that silly arguments go public and are amplified.
We really need to move on. The increased mixing of genes is genetically a good thing and most often does create prettier people (not always). They are human. If we could get past the Black, White, Red, Yellow thing, then we advance. Just call her a hybrid. :-)
I know it is a bad thing to have a really closed Gene pool.
My brother-in-law, for instance, who has deep blue eyes, white hair, white skin, a white beard, and who is from Cape Town, is a REAL “African-American”.

Well.... if somebody wanted to have some real fun with this they could start calling the kid a quadroon...or perhaps an octoroon. I’m just saying, if they want to resurrect this one-drop crap let’s bring back all the race-mix terminology.

If Halle Berry is so proud of being black, why didnt she marry a black man.

As for her husband, he was stupid enough to marry her he knew she was a racist when he married her., why cry now.
Halle wants to move around in a white crowd ,co-star in movies with white men, let her go party with blacks if she wants to claim her heritage.
Halle is a yellow gal who thinks herself better than blacks, but wants them to accept her.
Hers is he plight of so many people these days who’s parents stole their racial identity with inter racial marriage. They will never be accepted as white so they play at being black. Obama has the same problem. They are neither Fish nor fowl
