Mayor Richard Daley today launched his final push in office for state and federal gun-control measures and vowed to continue those efforts "as a private citizen as well."

He proposed four new state criminal laws aimed at reducing gun violence and vowed to battle bills that would bar cities and villages from enacting gun-control measures and allow citizens to carry concealed weapons.

"We are ready for this fight," Daley said, after noting his long history of anti-gun violence efforts during nearly 22 years in office.

Daley continues his assault on the Constitution and the rule of law.

Isn't it also an assault on the law abiding citizens of Chicago?

you’d think after 22 years he’d realise that restricting gun rights has only been making things worse, and the only law that will curb gun violence is a law reaffiming the constitutional right for citizens to carry.

“The four newly proposed measures would automatically transfer to adult court cases of 15- to 17-year olds arrested with a gun; require at least five years behind bars for felons caught with weapons; require 10 years in prison for people who point guns at police and firefighters responding to emergencies; and make it a felony to commit a crime with a child in tow if that child is injured by gunfire.”

I don’t have much of a problem with these laws, as they tend to go after bad guys. I’m not sure that the NAACP will be all that happy with these laws, however, as they will lose a lot of members to the penal system, if they are applied fairly.

This guy needs to retire, holding down two jobs year after year can not be easy, especially when the jobs are adverse to each other, the Americans are paying him to uphold the constitution and then if the socialist organizations are paying him to tear down the constitution it must be rough.

I bet he has enough stashed away that he could quit both jobs if he had a mind to.

Has Daley somehow been named Supreme Ruler of Illinois or President and Dictator of the United States for Life last night or how does he "bar cities and villages from enacting gun-control measures and allow citizens to carry concealed weapons"?

I don't need to point out that his efforts at "of anti-gun violence efforts during nearly 22 years in office" have been a complete and dismal failure.

Yer kidding, right..?

Sewer rats are cannibalistic. The law abiding have already been eaten, left, or are on the specials menu.

I see no problem with controlling dangerous peoples access to firearms. Let them shank each other with their ecosporks. I hear the DC has a $hitload of them available.

Pig Boy Daley is protected by a Praetorian Guard armed with semi-automatic weaspons.

But he would deny your legal Second Amendment rights to protect your home from attack by Obama voters, oops I meant career criminals.

He does realize this. He's not stupid.

He also realizes that union thugs who try intimidation on an armed man are dead meat, and unions are one of his main constituencies. There are also a bunch of other Dem voters who would be upset over their prospective victims being armed.

Ooooh, more of that 'violent rhetoric' that the left is always whining about. Of course, it's not bad when they do it.

Doom on this statist POS.

Opps, there it is again!

Daley has absolutely no history of anti-gun violence efforts. He has a big anti-gun history, but that's done nothing to stop gun violence.

For a loud-mouthed, egomaniacal, blinkered demagogue, truth is of no consequence.

Congratulations are due Chicagoans on their choice of leadership; the ignorant, corrupt Daley machine lives on in his son.
