Yay! He might be more effective as Sheriff but good luck to him!

you are the second to make the statement that Joe is too old. what Joe brings to the table is common sense and no fear of pompous stuffed shirts in Washington. that is a not inconsiderable value that is sorely lacking in government at all levels. we of the USA should hold our eldest with a lot more respect than we do.

I agree with choice number 3. I would love to see either JD Hayworth or Sheriff Joe run but if Gabby Giffords runs she wins in a landslide due to sentimental factors.
From what I've read is she was a Republican so she is probably a RINO / DINO although she'll be on a crusade for gun control.
But what about Jan Brewer? I think she'd make a fantastic Senator.
But JD, Sheriff Joe, Gabby Giffords and Brewer would bring national attention to the border. Even though Giffords is a democrat she is for protecting our borders and enforcing the law.

Even now Giffords would lose a statewide race.
She is loony-left.

Yup...never let a crisis go to waste.

A real patriot like Arpaio doesn’t have a chance. This is the same state that sent Juan McLame back the Senate after years of undermining the nation. Expect another Establishment Globalist RINO to join him.

The seat is hers for the taking. Wouldn’t matter if she were a vegatable. We have become a society that is obsessed with feelings. That gives her the advantage. Geesh, I’m in a foul mood today. Sorry.

It'd definitely go to Giffords if she wanted it. Might it go to her husband if he did? It's something to think about given the space shuttles are (supposedly) retiring this year.
As much as I might admire Sheriff Arpaio, he's 78 now, which is just too old to be jumping into the U.S. Senate.

He and McCain are about the same age. He couldn’t do any more damage than McLiar.

But what about Jan Brewer? I think she'd make a fantastic Senator. She might, but the people of Arizona (the Southwest and American in general) need her right where she is as governor. She's still in her first term there as well.

I agree totally. I think he'd be 10 times better than McCain. I just think he'd probably be a one termer and then we might have to fight this battle all over again in Arizona. Rather just see a younger conservative who can hold that seat for the next 12-18 years, thats all.

Silly Republican, Gabby wouldn’t have to beat Jesus. Everyone knows that He’s a Democrat! /sarc

The Senate seat will (by sentimental default) go to Gabby Giffords if she recovers even mentions the idea of running.
I've got an unpopular opinion here....Giffords will never recover to the point she will be able to maintain or perform any credible work...
Very sad, but just the way it is...IMO.

The DUmmies are beside themselves at the thought of Gabby running for Senate, regardless of any residual disabilities. They think she could beat Jesus.
She will never recover from the event...
The poor woman has had a hole blown through here skull and through her brain.....and they now use her for political gain?
Pretty disgusting...

Nothing like a martyr for the Cause....or the Agenda... especially when the Left sees an opportunity to “wave the bloody shirt”. They’re masters of it, and the sheeple that can’t think for themselves or don’t bother to just run along with it, right off the cliff.
If she gets the seat, imagine the gun control bills they’ll be writing.
Wishing her well and full recovery, though, from a humanity perspective - she didn’t do anything to deserve what happened to her.
Politically, I don’t want to see ANY Democrat win anything, not for a long time.

Yet when it's convenient, the government and others tell us, 70 is the new 60...

I agree with you about her. My hope is that she recovers enough to live some sort of normal life. The bigger concern politically is not her running, but perhaps her husband. Don’t know what kind of man he is. Would he waive the bloody shirt of his wife,s tragedy? We may find out.
To: surrey
Yes, and she can get Senator Tim Johnson of SD as her nominal campaign manager. She would be a runaway winner in a state like AZ.

Reagan was nearly 70 when he won the presidency. And, like Reagan, Sheriff Joe probably has too much class to make his opponent’s youth and inexperience a campaign issue. :)
