(CBSNews)

On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.

In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.

This kind of news makes me sick to my stomach. This represents the lowest of the low in humanity. We can only offer our prayers to her and her family.

I think the problem is that even most of the news media bought into the “democratic rebellion” nonsense. This was actually a bizarre Islamist/leftist attack engineered by the nutzo US left (Bill Ayers/Code Pink) and US-supported radical Muslims (MB and Obama).

Bill Ayers and Jodie Whatever from Code Pink were actually there in Egypt, and Obama and his minions were frantically telegraphing support for the MB.

She made a poor decision as did all of those around her. She did it for the story though.

Stupid is as stupid does. She was, and is so ignorant she put herself in peril and paid the price.

The question of the day is will she learn from this or is she just another leftist who has no real education and thus try to blame everyone else for her error?

Not only should the entire management of CBS be fired en masse, but CBS should be sued right out of business.
CBS knew the risks. They, like all of the msm, have fully capable research departments who find out everything -the weather, waterborne diseases, accommodations, languages ...... and the “code of the hills” of any given location they send news crews to. And they know exactly what the risks are. They know what it says in the Koran.

They, along with the rest of the msm, have skewed, covered up, and lied to the public about these animals and what they do in the name of Islam for a long time now. If you want proof, just read the various Israeli online media, and take a good, long, hard look at the photographs in those articles, and you begin to understand exactly what our media has been covering up. The question is “WHY”. and it is time to demand answers.

We've all seen the coverage. Would YOU have gone or told them to shove it up their hiney?

I would have told them to shove.

To the person who said it's still her fault for taking the assignment: I don't know how bright she is. They would have had to explain the risks to her.

She's almost 40, and has been a reporter her whole adult life. She should know the risks by now.

Muslim Third world civil disorder... lets send a girl!! Great thinking. Chalk it up to diversity I guess.

A pretty one, with lots of untamed, uncovered wild blond hair.

To devout muslims, she's legit rape-bait. What was CBS thinking?

So this happened on Friday?

Yes. . .but not her and CBS crew first encounter w/trouble as they covered the events in Cairo. You probably remember:

Lara Logan Detained By Egyptian Police Feb 03, 2011 · CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan has been detained, along with her crew, by Egyptian police. . .

The media can protect; and it does; when it is their own. That said; think she needed protection of time and do not begrudge her getting it.

While the 'celebrating' was going on; did wonder, how it was that any news media would be in the thick of it - reporting. No way, could that mob be construed as 'safe'; and no 'reason' to imagine otherwise.

No woman is EVER at fault for being raped. No woman ever “asks for it”, regardless of the way they dress or behave. ANYONE who thinks that way has a very twisted sense of right and wrong.

This woman was brutalized in the most disgusting, painful and humiliating way a woman can be. She may have survived physically, but the mental terror will be there for the rest of her life.

As for the Egyptians? SUUUURE, they were trying to protest their third world country lives, oust Mubarek and get themselves some freedom and democracy. Uh huh. These are the same people who told Christiane Amanpour that they hated her because she was American. They hate all Americans. But they’re too stupid to get that Amanpour is not American. But I’m splitting hairs here.

What they want is for Islam to take over the world and be able to rape women, commit honor killings, brutalize and subjugate all that they see as their “property” and murder Jews and Christians without pesky things like laws, human rights or the outcry of civilized people getting in their way.

Now if they wanted TRUE freedom and democracy, I might could support them. However, when you let whatever religious sect who is more brutal come to power and tell you how to think, act, when to pray, etc., you get the same dictatorship with a new face.

I read an article a couple decades ago written by a pragmatic feminist. She lamented that while in College summer break some of her male friends went to Egypt and could spend the night In some secluded areas around the Pyramids and that, as a woman, she could never safely do that.

And occasionally a reporter learns the job does involve risk when reporting stories in areas where human life is cheaper than what they are used to. And as a woman there lie even greater risks then await men. Add that this is a heavily muslim culture and only a fool would send an American female reporter into that hell-hole.

Even in the US, there are some neighborhoods you best avoid.

Kinda like the white male that walks through the south side projects in Chicago is not asking to be robbed and beaten. But I’m gonna avoid it myself. Just seems prudent.

Apparently NOT TRUE in any backwards mooslims world. This reporter should have known better and told CBS to shove it.

I did not say she asked for it. I believe it is her bosses’ fault. I am devasted for her.

While it is never a womans fault for sexual attack, there is a chance for adult healthy women to be prudent. For example, not to walk into a sleazy bar alone wearing a see through top and tight skirt with sly high heels at 1:00 am.

But any child, or elderly, or handicapped woman (or man) cannot use prudence and really has no responsibility herself. A reporter and especially her boss should not have put a publicly dressed blonde American in that mess, especially after the male reporters were viciously attacked.
