Every branch of the military issued a final report on the Fort Hood massacre. Not a single one mentioned radical Islam.
In a month of momentous change, it was easy to overlook the significance of another revolutionary event. Who would have believed that in the space of a few weeks the leaders of the three major European powers would publicly denounce multiculturalism and declare, in so many words, that it was a proven disaster and a threat to society?
One after another they announced their findingsGermany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, Great Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron, and France's President Nicolas Sarkozy. Multicultural values had not only led to segregated communities: They had, Mr. Cameron noted, imposed policies of blind toleration that had helped nurture radical Islam's terrorist cells.
There can be no underestimating the in-so-many-words aspect of these renunciations. This was multiculturalism they were talking aboutthe unofficial established religion of the universities, the faith whose requirements have shaped every aspect of cultural, economic and political life in Western democracies for the last 50 years. Still, they were out therewords coolly specific, their target clear

Is he saluting - or thinking his nose.
I do not jest.
Thanks for the links. While the Lieberman committee designates the failure to recognize radical Islam as the causative factor in the Hasan case, Rabinowitz goes further in suggesting that multi-cultural thinking is a failure.
If multi-cultural thinking is wrong, so is the relativity that leads to multi-culturalism, which means that condemning western culture as no better than any other culture is wrong as well. What Rabinowitz is doing is condemning post modernist thought.
She is one of my favorite writers and one of the last at WSJ. Dorothy took on the very sensitive and dangerous job of trying to save Gerald Amirault and Grant Snowden after they were “lynched” by the bi*ch who ran against Scott Brown (Croakley?) and Janet Reno.
No one would touch those stories. It took incredible bravery on he part. Thanks to Dortothy’s writing and other efforts, these innocent me eventually were freed. She is such a great writer.
Quite a radical notion, these days! And courageous, too.
Who bought the white hut in 2008? The same people who are the largest shareholders in Fox, 2nd largest in Disney/ABC, major shareholders in TW/CNN, major partner with GE/CNBC/MSNBC/NBC/Universal, did deals for Viacom/CBS and Bloomberg.
Same people who put the muslim in the white hut. The one bill O’Reilly is a huge cheerleader for along with his buddy Beck.
Thank goodness there is one good journalist left in Dorothy Rabinowitz. I am amazed her boss Murdoch/Al Waleed let her write this. I guess having a real Pulitzer for real writing helps.
I love Dorothy Rabinowitz! I wonder if she breathes fire in person? ... I know she does on the page! Long may she investigate and write. We need a thousand like her.
Yes, indeed, Dorothy Rabinowitz is a hero.
I’ve really enjoyed discussing this article tonight, too.
It seems like it’s been a long time since we’ve had a good hard hitting article like this to discuss.
If there was any justice in the world, this pos would have been waterboarded and after we had found out where he got his marching orders from, he would have died accidentally from a bullet wound to the brain.
I also believe that any ranking officer who gave this guy a pass at any time should be in Leavenworth making small rocks out of big ones.
If there were any real justice in this country, Hasan would never have made it to medical school as an affirmative action student and would not have been accepted into the military.
Affirmative action is part of restorative justice, which is goes with multi-culturalism and post modern thought.
If there was any real justice in this country, especially after 9/11, there wouldn’t be any muslims anywhere near our military and their last mosque would be pre-2001, The dar al hijrah islamic ctr would have been razed and would be a pig farm.
Cowardly PC Army Officer Corps.
Which is where the “political correctness” comes in. The promotion board saw his crappy OER, then saw his name and picture and decided we need more like him in the Army to show how tolerant we are.
We have politicized the military through political correctness and multi-culturalism. We are fighting an enemy that we refuse to identify and allowing civilian politicians to dictate military procedures and culture.
I do think that there really was a separate culture that defined the military, duty to God and country, defending freedom and the constitution, a kind of selflessness that required a surrender of individualism for the benefit of the whole, while in uniform. That’s gone, or on it’s way out.
Bump - Please click on the link and read the whole article.
Of course you are right. That’s why I don’t hold out much hope that the Hasan shooting will change anything .
There was no reason for the trial to be delayed this long for all the investigations except to protect the status quo.
In magical thinking, safety and good come to those who obey taboos, and in the multiculturalist world, there is no taboo more powerful than the one that forbids acknowledgment of realities not in keeping with the progressive vision. In the world of the politically correctwhich can apparently include places where psychiatrists are taughtmagical thinking reigns.
