Israel Warns It Might Act on Iranian Warships Passing Through Suez Canal
Fox News ^

Israel is monitoring two Iranian warships about to pass through the Suez Canal for Syria and warn they might act.

Israeli's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says that "Israel cannot ignore these provocations," according to ynetnews.com.

"Unfortunately, the international community is not ready to deal with Iran's repeated provocations," Lieberman said, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Lieberman added that the warships was "a provocation that proves Iran's nerve and self-esteem is growing from day to day."

Iran announced plans to deploy warships near Israel and dock at a Syrian port for a year, IsraelNationalNews.com reports.

A senior Israeli official tells the site that "Israel will know how to deal with it."

[Israel just has to get ready for the S***storm headed their way when they sink them.]

There are about a million Israelis within range of Hamas rockets in Gaza. I imagine by now there are neighborhood bomb shelters as well as personal bunkers in homes. Casualties will be high but Israel will use an Iranian-provoked war to destroy Hamas and their weapons, most of which they have identified and targeted. Israel performs best when it has to fight multiple enemies simultaneously. God bless them.

Why would Egyptian military let them thru?

They are required by International Law. The Convention of Constantinople the guarantees right of passage of all ships through the Suez Canal during war and peace.

oooh...thinking about this.

Say those ships ARE on a suicide mission. They blow the nukes somewhere along a part of the canal that doesn’t have a big population. It likely would not block the canal, although you’d have a much deeper part of the canal than what it is currently due to the crater.

The water itself wouldn’t be radioactive after a short while...but all the land surrounding it WOULD BE. For quite a while, any ship going through there would be getting large doses of radiation. No one would WANT to go through THAT. They could shut down the canal for years without really damaging it.

The likelihood of this happening? Probably slim. I don’t think Iran would want to piss off Egypt by doing something so egregiously stupid to them.

“Iran says it’s a year long training mission!”

Israel will train them how to tread water.

Well I think the Iranians are insane enough to pull something like that. However I would bet the would attack oil. One way to send the world into the dark ages is to cause oil fields to be radioactive. Just the thought of Iranian ships cruising around Saudi should make people nervous.

That is what I worry about in the U.S. A dirty bomb at tank farms or major refineries would pretty much shut us down.

I think Iran wants to get the worlds eyes off the protestors in its streets and the heavy fisted butchering going to take place when it violently supresses them.

Those ships likely do not have nuclear weapons aboard, but could have dirty bombs and reactor parts for Syria. Likely they are going to be doing extensive ELINT on Israel.

That's good for Iran and bad for US and Israel as well.

They don't even have to do anything but blackmail works for them wonderfully.

If Israel sank these ships, wouldn’t the Suez Canal be blocked to ALL shipping for a considerable length of time?

Crude oil and gas prices would zoom higher.
