President Obama warned of stopped Social Security checks and issued a formal veto threat Tuesday to the Republican spending plan currently being debated in the House, setting the stage for a potential government shutdown next month.

That was in 1995 when there was not a huge Federal defecit. Things are a lot different now.

I liked it when the Feral gubberment was shut down in 1995 and I’d like it even more today. A shutdown will fly very well today. People are on the warpath over public employee compensation

I’ve missed payroll checks and even had them bounce. Unlike govt checks... those private enterprise payroll checks don’t ever get made up later. Deal with it.

Obama is trying to use the fear tactic on the elderly and disabled - no social security checks. Can you imagine if this did happen how many old people would be pissed off. Look at all the old senators and congressman who get social security and their salary from the government. Conyers, McCain, Reid, Biden (Vice President) and Kerry are just a few
Direct Depost is the status quo of Social Security beginning in March or is it may 2011 all remaining social security recipients whom been receiving it in the mail will have to have a bank deposit established.
So GOP call his bluff. Ask your represntative to send out an assurrance that this will not happen if a government shutdowns does occur.

The public statement in response should be, “we’ll be happy to keep the rest of the proposed Obama cuts, but Obamacare has to go.”

About 7 years. Assuming people keep sending their checks to the IRS.
With all the presstitutes hell bent on making Obama a ‘success’, the issue will be framed in Obama’s favor, or course.
Barry probably thinks that a gov’t shutdown means he won’t have to work at all.
