Taxpayer money promotes 'gay' Valentine's cards

This Valentine's Day, National Public Radio chose two curious ways to celebrate the holiday: It thanked President Obama for proposing an increase in its federal funding, then it used its taxpayer money to promote greeting cards for the homosexual lifestyle.

During yesterday's "Morning Edition" program, Selena Simmons-Duffin shared a story on air – and expanded in an online article – titled "Greeting Cards that Celebrate a Rainbow of Loves."

"It can be especially hard to find the perfect Valentine's Day card for your special someone if you're in a same-sex relationship," Simmons-Duffin writes. "That's because no major greeting card company carries a line of cards geared toward members of the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender community."

An Obama Valentine's card:

I don't believe in Valentine's Day
It's a capitalistic holiday
But, here's a token of my esteem
A dish of borscht with sour cream...

I don’t see the article as promoting gay cards, just reporting that such cards and companies selling them now exist. There was no opinion from the reporter as to whether they are good or bad — any positive quotes were from the people selling them.

How can anyone justify any tax money going to NPR when the debt is so high?

Even if somebody likes NPR, they must concede that it is a frivolous use of tax dollars.

then it used its taxpayer money to promote greeting cards for the homosexual lifestyle.

This should be part of a major "do you know where your taxes go?" Campaign by the Republicrats. Course, it won't be.

My local NPR affiliate has had a “Roses” fundraiser in early February for over a decade. You get your membership plus a half dozen or dozen roses delivered.

This was the first year that they offered a “Rainbow” bouquet in addition to their normal red roses.

Maybe there’s a pretense of journalism, but any normal viewer can tell exactly how the reporter feels about gay cards. He’s all for them! Just another step along the road to sexual utopia.

Bingo! The real issue here is not about a gay Valentine's Day card. It's about the left ripping off taxpayer money to promote an agenda.

NPR should be defunded, as well as many other groups. Regards.

Why do taxpayers have to fund every leftwing thing? Is there a leftist group NOT getting government grants out there?

Why should a penny of taxpayer money be spent on NPR doing a “news” bit on Valentine cards at all, what to speak of cards for queers?

I just discovered that Blue Mountain, the online greeting card company, provides homo-cards. I’m canceling my long-time subscription first thing tomorrow, and letting them know why.
