MADISON, Wis. Authorities say an estimated 25,000 people are protesting anti-union legislation at the Wisconsin state Capitol, and nine demonstrators have been arrested.
On the third day of protests, the Statehouse was completely jammed with protesters opposed to a bill that would strip public employees of their collective bargaining rights. The crowd filled the building's hallways, sat cross-legged across the floor and chanted slogans.
For the moment, a group of Democratic senators have blocked the bill by refusing to attend a midday vote and leaving the Capitol. The sergeant at arms was looking for them.
One member of the group told The Associated Press that they had all left Wisconsin in an effort to force Republicans to negotiate.
Republicans hold a 19-14 majority, but they need at least one Democrat to be present before voting.

25,000?
The words ‘million man math’ come to mind.
Most of the electorate gets ZERO guaranteed pay and ZERO guaranteed pension.
The Chinese can bring out a crowd too.
The Gov should tell the Rats that the first vote when they will return will be on the collective bargaining. In the meantime..they can shut down the schools and the state gov without a budget.
In order to defeat the Unions and the Rats the public is going to have to learn to deal with strikes.
Otherwise they will get stuck with even higher taxes and more arrogance on the part of the unions.
I hate the media!
Fire them all!!
If this was a DemoRatard Governor and majority in the legistature... and the protesters were Rupublicans the Madison Fire Chief would come down and clear the place out citing occupancy violations.
Give them a High Speed Rail Ticket out of town.
How many are from Rockford or Chicago, Illinois?
Budget Battle: Democrats Who Left State are Located
By The WTMJ News Team
MADISON - Democratic State Senators who protested the budget repair bill by leaving the state have been found.
The lawmakers are in the Best Western Clock Tower Resort in Rockford Illinois.
Law enforcement officials have been looking for at least one Democratic senator to bring in for a quorum required for a fiscal measure, but Democratic Senator Jon Erpenbach confirmed to Newsradio 620 WTMJ that he and all of his Democratic colleagues boarded a bus and left the state.
“We’re not in Wisconsin right now,” Erpenbach said. “The reason why we’re doing this is because there are some jurisdictional issues that we’d be dealing with.”
The Senate’s Sergeant at Arms cannot compel Senators’ attendance in an open session if they are outside of state lines.....

That’s what I want to know, too! If they are not showing up in person, I hope the taxpayers are burning up the phone lines calling to support the governor’s plan.
I’ve spotted a number of firefighters in the protest videos. Don’t firefighters work 2 days a week?

How many people show up for the pro life march in D.C. every February? I bet the pro life crowds are 10 times bigger than the union crowd in Madison, and the pro lifers don’t get paid for it.
