Palin: No, I don’t question Obama’s faith or his citizenship

Smart politics, both for her own sake and for the party’s sake, from today’s Q&A on Long Island. Even lefties like Jonathan Capehart are praising her for her answer. The reason you’re seeing so many prominent Republicans pressed on Birtherism the past few days is because of this PPP poll from Tuesday claiming that a clear majority of the party’s primary voters (51 percent) don’t think Obama was born in the U.S. Weigel’s read on that is correct, I think: To some extent the issue’s become a proxy for ideology, with more conservative voters who are already deeply suspicious of The One’s intentions more likely to believe that he was born abroad. The peril for Palin in that poll is that her favorables were unusually high among Birthers at 83 percent (almost 20 points more than Huckabee), which stands to reason under Weigel’s theory since she’s perceived as the most conservative candidate in the race. Hence the need today to set the record straight about her own views and to steer Birthers among the base away from this issue. She did a nice job, much clearer than she was when she addressed this subject once before. And she’s quite right, needless to say, about the issue being a distraction. Even if you’re inclined to believe that there’s funny business surrounding The One’s long-form birth certificate, there’s virtually no way to prove it. His file will stay closed as long as he wants it closed, so absent a confession from the Hawaii records department that it’s all a big conspiracy, you’re pumping a dry well. Like Palin says, better to focus on the economy (and, if you’re feeling bold, Obama’s inexcusable gutlessness on entitlements) than to keep barking up this tree.

“On this one, I think it would be best to answer a question with a question. When asked, simply reply “Why has he not shown his long form”. Make them answer you.”

Exactly right! She could have said, “I haven’t questioned it, but I know there are enough people who question it that it would only make sense for President Obama to release his records and show he has nothing to hide, so this matter could be cleared up once and for all.”

It's a non-answer. That's the point. Now, Palin has painted herself into a corner worse than I would have done.

She doesn't “question” Obama’s eligibility. So much for her claiming skepticism in the future!

An unpolished answer from an unpolished pol.

I don't question it either ... -cough- (because I've already reached my conclusions)

And so presumably has she, but she ain't saying what it is, is she? Hehehehe. She's learning. Give the media an answer that sounds reasonable, but does not specifically state that he's a Muslim or was born somewhere else. As for me - he's a non-citizen muzzie that ought to be deported back to whatever country he claimed allegiance to get his foreign student scholarship.

DU is over here....

Hmmm. You seem to know a lot about them and even post their URL to this site. I understand they have sent provocateurs over here before to stir up trouble. Coincidence?

THIS is how Sarah, and all other Conservatives should answer these loaded Birther questions from the Presstitutes:

"Well, I'm rooting for Obama to be telling the truth, because if it should turn out that Obama is lying about his faith or especially his Citizenship, what would that say about YOU in the media? It would mean that you in the media are totally corrupt, or totally incompetent or worse. It might mean that you in the MSM are secretly in cahoots with the Democrat Party! If that were the case you'd all have to be tried for Treason. So I'm hoping, for YOUR sakes, that Obama's telling the truth."

That's the perfect answer for someone in Sarah's position, who can't be seen as a "Birther".

RE :”Since Palin threw the birthers under the bus, the worshipers are declaring that Bachmann did too.

There are birthers and there are birth-certificators. For the first it's fun to bug liberals, for the second they are just NUTS.

Where have all the Palinista birthers gone?

What does that mean? What do you mean?

______________________________________________

At first - I was gonna answer that question in my usual snarky manner:

“You mean to tell me you don’t know what a birther is?”

But I have found that many folks don’t know what a birther is.

A birther is NOT someone who believes Obama was born in Kenya. That might be one answer. But not the whole answer.

To put it simply - a birther is anyone who has questions and concerns over the birth and adoption of one Barack Barry Mohammad Hussein Soetero Obama Jr. II

“An unpolished answer from an unpolished pol.”

Actually, Palin is a step ahead of the media, and apparently many Birthers.

When you are setting up for a potential Presidential run, you don’t play in the weeds.

That’s damn smart politically. It’s a trap and she knows it. Apparently something that escapes many birthers.

You idiot, you know damn well where I stand on Obama’s fake nativity. That’s why I didn’t answer you. You might as well have asked me if my screen name is pissant.

And HOW did Bachmann answer George’s question?:

“Can you just state very clearly that President Obama is a Christian and he is a citizen of the United States?”

So don’t pretend because your Precious threw the US under the bus that Bachmann did too. There are 50 stories across the political spectrum already who understood what Bachmann just did. Only Precious’ followers think Bachmann dissed the birthers, because they have to believe that.

Key difference: Palin doesn't have a problem with people questioning Obama's BC. It's not her job to bring it up, it's the people's job and she ain't going to stop them from asking.

Smart politics, brilliant strategy of Palin to take another issue away from the Left and focus on the big picture.

You focus on the main issues, and the rest of the stuff, including Obama's history, will take care of itself.

It's a non-answer...

Some of Bachmann's answers were non-answers, but then she folded.

“They both threw their base under the bus today with vague evasive non-answers to this issue.”

Naahhh.

Sarah's job description is not being birth certificate checker nanny.
Her job is to explain to the nation why SHE would be the best candidate to lead our nation as President for 8 years.

It's not her job as a possible candidate to personally verify another politician's birth certificate.

People get their panties in a bunch over the wrong things.

There are other people who can take on the issue of the BC as needed.

Well, it’s semantics, and the liberal media is clearly trying to entrap GOP candidates with questions the WH is feeding them.

I don’t really care where the ahole was born. I just want him out of office in 2012, whether it is Palin or some other conservative PATRIOT kicking the bum back to Chicago.

“Since Palin threw the birthers under the bus, the worshipers are declaring that Bachmann did too. Obviously, the lefties, the MSM and the rightie blogs didn’t think so. But anything, I guess, to soothe the poor Palin fans.”

Worshipers? This is coming from a clown who posts a dozen Bachmann threads a day.

You are either the most dishonest or most delusional poster on this site, perhaps both.
