The Montana House has overwhelmingly endorsed a plan to disregard the federal law protecting endangered and threatened species. Republicans enthused by Gov. Brian Schweitzer's recent tough talk on wolves led a 61-39 vote Saturday to nullify the federal Endangered Species Act in Montana.
Tea party politics in the Legislature have spawned increasing belief in an 18th-century doctrine that purported to give states the ultimate say in constitutional matters...

Don, spare me.
My wife of 23 years is dying from tumors at the base of her skull. That is tragic and of no making of her own. She has struggled for the past 11 years. We have exhausted all known treatment and appear to be close to the end.
The two bleeding heart fools romping in the woods with ANIMALS deserve everything they got and I laugh at fools.
If it was the one I'm thinking of that went from Nova Scotia to Orange County, CA, it was an Animal Planet show. My brother was the California biologist discussing coyotes.
No kidding. There were two different coyote experts. I was telling my wife yesterday how great the show was because they had some experts who knew what they were talking about. Tell him that this FReeper said he did an outstanding job. Great show.
I sometimes think if coyotes had opposable thumbs they would eventually take over the world. I may be wrong about the opposable thumbs thing, but I’m probably right about them eventually taking over the world. Based on what I’ve seen, anyway.
LOL!
Montana is 2500 miles and a world away from Washington DC. Why should they be taking orders from a semi-Kenyan, semi-Muslim idiot and his people?
Next, let’s bring back paint that lasts, quality oil based paint with, OH NO, lead in it.
I suspect and trust we will see much more of state’s nullifying the totalitarian attempts by the federal government to control the populace. Thanks for taking the lead, Montana. Well done.

You and your wife have my sincere condolences concerning your wife’s illness. Nobody deserves such a fate.
James Madison said these things much later in his life. It wasn’t his position when he was younger and closer to the ratification.
Well, as long as we still have text messaging, the human race is not in danger of loosing our opposable thumbs... our collective IQs may sink lower than that of a sea slug, though!
Madison later tried to recant upon it 30+ years later when his side was in opposition to its uses(to be frank South Carolina was on shaky ground trying to nully a tarrif.), and was called out on it.
All that being said we need to be very careful in how we employ this doctrine in the formative years. It must only be in clear cut cases in which the people given the simple text may have no choice but to side with us.
In the end our guiding principle should be avoid acts which preport to protect states or their people from themselves. So that no one else has just reason to care for our nullification.
Nice Job Montana! Tell the Feds where they can stick their extra constitutional impositions!
