So to get to $100 billion, House Republicans are using a gimmick. They're measuring their cuts not against the actual level of spending.
What they're doing instead is cutting against the airy fairy numbers in President Obama's proposed fiscal 2011 budget.
That budget was never passed. It might as well be a unicorn because it doesn't really exist.

Did NPR mentioned the Democrats want to veto it because it’s too extreme?
They promised "at least $100 billion" in the first year and it isn't happening. Any way you look at it, they're $35 billion short! The leadership need to keep the promise or get out of the way for those who will.
It certainly is worth posting. We've been sold out -- again.
I have been reading all these numbers from all these sources...when you are fighting a war, and your army is in full retreat, the only way to reverse this is to stop and stand your ground. Then, you can muster and attack...we need to, at a minimum, stand the ground. This means, at a minimun, not one dime more is to be spent than last year...forget inflation, cost of living, and all that other crap. I only want to see 2 numbers...what was the money spent last year, and what is being spent this year...no fancy accounting tricks, just somebody give me those 2 numbers.. then and only then will the truth be known...
If there is really 100 billion less being spent this year than last, then kudo’s to the house for doing more than just standing ground..If the numbers do not jive, then give ‘em hell
