Wis. Democrat says return to Capitol unlikely
Associated Press - February 20, 2011 11:45 AM ET
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin senator says he does not believe Senate Democrats will return to work unless Gov. Scott Walker shows a willingness to negotiate on his plan to effectively eliminate union rights for most public employees.
Sen. Jon Erpenbach of Middleton said Sunday he remains at a Chicago hotel. He says Senate Democrats scattered outside of Wisconsin had a conference call Saturday night and remain united in their tactic to try to slow down the bill.

He says unions agreed to make concessions on health care and pension benefits and now it's time for Walker to back off his plan to take away their ability to collectively bargain for benefits and working conditions.

Okay, why not just say “I’ll negotiate.” Then when they walk into the chamber have the state police lock the doors and say “I’ve changed my mind.”
Exactly. Love it! bttt
Get rid of them. They either need to resign or be recalled.
Great letter! bttt
Refuse to give them a paycheck.
The communist union members in their district would simply re-elect them or elect ones more liberal.
The solution is have them arrested. Or, vote without them. In order to raise hell they’d have to come back.
So set the special election to take place months from now. During those months, pass every piece of legislation that you never could if the Cowardcrats were there.
I heard that this is a special session just to concider the bill in question. To strip the financial provisions out, would void the reason the session was called in the first place. They cannot do it in this session. But they could just call the whole thing off, and wait until the regular session, thus handing the unions a voictory. As I gather it, may be wrong.
Whos footing the bill for the gutless wonders food, lodging, and transpo?

Donations. Is a thread ealier this AM about this. Is legal apparently. $100K raised so far, or $7100 for each of the 14 fleebaggers.
Karl Denninger, meanwhile, is pointing out the meaning of Obamas Organizing for America being involved in the Madison teachers revolt:
Im going to draw the line between the word sedition and the act of seditious conspiracy; the latter is a federal offense. At least today, that line may still apply. It may be true, however, that as facts develop we will discover that this line has been crossed.

On non-appropriations, only 50% quorum is needed.
Pass Right-to-Work while they're gone.
Pass Vermont-style CCW and "Make my Day" laws.
Change the Senate rules while they're gone to impose a $5000/day fine for deliberately missing a quorum call.
Have Republicans show they're not just using the Democrats as an excuse to posture themselves as conservatives while not really doing anything.
First order of business on Monday: Candidates running for the President of the United States must produce their original birth certificates in the state of Wisconsin.
You're exactly right. While the Dem senators are gone, the Assembly should start an assembly line of clean non-appropriations legislation for the Senate to pass and the gov to sign. Including right-to-work, and the non-fiscal portions of the education bill that the Dems fled to evade quorum for.
Changing Senate rules requires 2/3 of the members present voting in favor, but with only a majority quorum required. Lots of things the Repubs can do here to make the Dems come running back.
Really? Our own President is doing this?
These acts have a word folks: Sedition.
I've said before that it's time for Gov. Walker to take Obama to federal court on the grouds that Obama is violating Article IV of the US Constitution by leading the insurrection in Wisconsin.
Article IV Section 4:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Obama is openly working to undermine the Republican Form of Government in Wisconsin by blocking the state's legislative process, essentially attacking it by using its apparatus against itself. He is effectively supporting the overthrow of the newly elected government and legislative process in Wisconsin by ignoring the Wisconsin State Constitution, just as he is ignoring the United States Constitution.
Obama, and his henchmen should be blocked and restrained from approaching Wisconsin legislators on the grounds that it violates the federal government's Article IV requirement to "guarantee... a Republican Form of Government" in Wisconsin.

If the Senate Rules permit that, perfect!
If Unions cared about their members and children:
They would lower their compelled dues that members pay until wages catch up to the increases costs.
Create a sliding scale to match annual increases.
Lower from the 1,000+ annual dues to 500.00 and raise a few points each year!
School Vouchers.
They are popular with parents, so it will go over with the voters. And they are very difficult to get passed when the teachers' union reps are around. Now is their chance.
Sounds to me like that is the way to go. Change the quorum rule. After passing a bunch of other stuff the Dems hate.
