Wow. Near universal first reaction to the headline: Deport all their sandy asses (since we can’t tell the “good” ones from the bad because of taqiyya) and close the border to them forever. Nuke ‘em if they squeal.

We created this mess in a variety of ways, not the least of which being that we fostered our own dependence on Middle East oil. Here we are, a mere 20 years from the end of the cold war, and we have another ‘evil empire’ to deal with. It will be harder this time, given that we've lost our sense of national identity and replaced it with a politically correct desire to commit national suicide.
I have a hard time seeing how we stabilize this mess without more conflict or at least with a devaluation of the MEs petroleum assets.
