Images uploaded on the social networking site YouTube showed what is purported to be anti-government protesters in a Tehran street.

Reuters is unable to verify the footage as foreign media are banned from covering protests from the streets...

Meanwhile, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday that the daughter of Iran's former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was released after being detained briefly for taking part in anti-government protests.

The former president remains a powerful figure in Iran as head of what's known as the Expediency Council.

Obama says that the relatively educated populace in Iran should not be supported, and that Iran should handle their own affairs, even though it’s an oppressive muslim theocracy.

Obama says that Egypt protesters should be supported, that the relatively open dictatorship in Egypt should be toppled, with the oppressive muslim brotherhood waiting in the wings.

Is there a theme here?

FWIW:

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) (traditional Chinese: 新唐人電視臺) is a television broadcaster based in New York City, with correspondents in over 50 cities worldwide.[1] The company's stated mission is "to foster mutual understanding between Chinese and Western societies" and promote multiculturalism, peace and compassion.

NTDTV was founded as in 2001 as a Chinese language station by professionals who practice Falun Gong, and was intended to offer an alternative to the Chinese government’s dominance in the Chinese media industry. The station has a regular focus on the promotion of traditional Chinese culture, and devotes extensive news coverage to Chinese human rights issues, taking a critical stance on the Communist Party of China.

There was supposed to be a pro-regime protest today.

I guess pro-regime demonstration would be a better phrasing than protest.

I don’t pay much attention to the pro-regime demonstrations. It’s just passed 7:30pm there, so if they happened I would think they should be over by now.

Well, I was curious if the thugs on motorbikes and other members of the goon squad would be there.

Y’think? :’)

My dyed in the wool ask no questions straight-ticket Demwit buddy told me over the phone last night that in his opinion, Zer-hole “is a Muslim” and that he can’t be given another four years, because right now his anti-Americanism is mitigated by the fact that he has to stand for reelection — once reelected, “there’s no telling” how much worse it will be.

I restratined myself from A) jumping for joy and B) saying ‘I told you so’.

“My dyed in the wool ask no questions straight-ticket Demwit buddy ...”

That’s an incredible story. Very cool. My brother is the same type as your buddy, but has shown no inclination to allow reality to crash in on his Obama lovefest.
