CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand -- New Zealand's quake-ravaged Christchurch city was struck by a strong earthquake causing further damage after a strong quake hit the city last year, local media reported on Tuesday.
The quake was measured at magnitude 6.3 by local scientists with a focal depth of 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres southwest of the country's second biggest city.
Local media reported filing cabinets and computers being thrown from desks, damage to buildings, and a city bridge made impassable.

That aint a real deep quake
A large quake has struck Christchurch, with reports of buildings and houses down and people trapped.
Witnesses said there were buildings down all around Cathedral Square in the city, with the church destroyed.
Witnesses said there would be “deaths” this time and their were reports of people being trapped in buildings across the city.
Christchurch resident Sean Scanlon said it was by far the biggest shake since the original September 4 quake. The power was out and phone lines jammed.
Christchurch Hospital was being evacuated, a spokewoman for the hospital said.

Huge quake strikes Canterbury Breaking A huge earthquake has struck Canterbury with witnesses reporting the 6.3 magnitude quake felt more violent than the quake in September.
I’m not sure I would recommend putting filing cabinets atop desks in such a “vibrant” place. Whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on.
Hope this thread goes better than the other one we had about this- the Mods pulled it for some reason.
They’re evacuating all of Christchurch- I guess the damage is incredible.
