Agenda 21 Part III: Maryland County Abolishes Agenda 21 – now for the rest of the country

..that local Sustainability offices, under the auspices of the ICLEI’s Local Governments for Sustainability, are the tiny, visible tip of the monstrous Agenda 21 sustainable development iceberg, the ultimate goal of which is to transform American society from the bottom up into a socialist ward of UN global governance. As of today, there are approximately 600 local governments in the US who have signed on to this Trojan Horse, under the guise of "smart growth, sustainability" and planned by the United Nations...

Minus one.

All the commissioners are to be commended for this bold decision. Predictably, the left is up in arms. The commissioners have already been challenged to a debate on their decision and the other side wants to bring in heavy hitters from the EPA and the Maryland Department of the Environment in an attempt to discredit the commission’s earth shattering (figuratively) move.

I think they took some skin.

Richard Rothschild led the charge. He campaigned on this issue, framing it, appropriately, as a matter of private property rights. In an American Thinker article he co-wrote last summer with Scott Strzelczyk, he explained that: “Sustainability has less to do with the environment, and everything to do with economics. It is an attack on capitalism, and an attack on America's middle class lifestyle.”

My old neighborhood is doing something right for a change. I know a couple of those County Commissioners. One of them sang at my best friend’s wedding, many years ago. ;-)

Agenda 21 is truly insidious. It's proponents know how to use language to make it seem like a good deal.

IMHO, we need federal law to shut it down.

The hardest part is communication. Most small town people can’t believe the UN would be involved in small towns.

The problem is that the local municipalities are rather clueless to the Agenda,

and along comes some “federal money” if you’ll adopt these “green initiatives”, and they aren’t healthily skeptical enough to question the motives.

Every councilman & county commissioner needs to be directed to read “freedom21.org” that points out the communist, anti-private property agenda of Agenda 21.

No. It is to isolate you in a hovel surrounded by a hostile "greenbelt" no-mans-land within which they can kill you by the flick of a switch: no water (pumps), no fuel (that takes pumps too), no food (refrigeration and transportation), and sewage backing up (because the plant is down).

How long would you last?

Think I'm kidding? In our immediate area of over two million people (Silicon Valley), there are only four roads out. They could each be jammed completely and for days by but a half dozen guys with heavy automatic weapons or a bomb to blow a bridge. Between the roads to the west are incredibly rugged hills covered with heavy brush and overgrown forest. To the east the hills are dry and bare, offering no cover or water for about thirty miles. Oh, and where are the slums in this area? On the east side.

The estimate is that there is only enough food for about two weeks.

The rest of the Bay Area is in a similar situation. So is LA. So is San Diego. So is Portland, Seattle less so but still pretty easy to isolate. So if I told you that the entire West Coast could be brought to its knees by a few thousand well-trained and determined soldiers, don't think I'm kidding.

Was it always this way? No. Fifty years ago, there were small farms and ranches all over the place and people were more dispersed on the land. This isn't just because of a "population increase," it is because of zoning and regulation. That is what Agenda 21 is all about.

Think it's just America? What do you think those "insta-cities" in China are all about? It's easy to control people in cities, or kill them.

But how can we raise awareness?

Attend the next town council (or what ever you have) meeting and ask the powers that be what is their stance on Agenda21.

If they are in favor of it or are working on an ordinance you need to spread the word as to what Agenda21 really is and then attend the next meeting in force. Depending on the size of your town, 100 people all raising hell about the same thing can get their attention.
